Beautiful Story

Would you consider the audio edition of Distant Shores to be better than the print version?

I always like audible books better than reading a print version. I'm a multi-tasker and can't sit still long enough to read a print version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Distant Shores?

The ending. I don't want to spoil the end for those that haven't listened to the book or read it, so I will just say that the ending is refreshing, loving and encouraging.
I am also and artist, so I was able to relate to the main character and her struggles in losing herself and fighting to find her passion again.

What about Bernadette Quigley’s performance did you like?

Wonderful! Loved the way she performed each character, especially the daughters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

You will enjoy this book whether you listen to it or read the print version. Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors and I have never been disappointed in any of her books

Narrator in wrong line of work

The narrator talks as if every part of the story is urgent and as if this speed provides drama and character embodiment. It makes it very hard to enjoy the story. I would never get an audiobook w/ this narrator again. I've enjoyed every Kristin Hannah audiobook until this one.

Good book, terrible narrator

A great narrator can really bring a book to life. They make you feel like you are there in the story, that all the characters have their own voices and personalities and they make you want to keep listening! The narrator for Distant Shores uses very little inflection, her way of changing voices between characters is to make them have a gravely voice and her sentences seem to run on without pausing to allow the listener to let the narration sink in. The narrator for The Nightingale was fabulous so I know that Ms. Hannah has access to better narrators for her books. I just wish she had chosen one for this book.

I'm glad I didn't let the negative reviews change my mind on this. I absolutely loved the Great Alone and I loved this title just as much.
very moving and relatable. Tears were shed, laughter was out loud and over all smiles when it wrapped up.

Narrator horrible!

Book would have been good if I had read it… the audiobook was awful. The narrator was breathy and melodramatic the entire book. Didn’t work for me.

Narration detracts

I’m a big fan of Kristin Hannah, but the narration of this book was disappointing. I ended up leaving the Audible version for the written one. Loved the story, but this one is better read without this particular narrator.

The story itself has an interesting plot but . . .

The narrator is terrible. She has a short, choppy narrating style and a sharp edge to her voice. I would like to see where the story goes not sure I can listen to her voice that long.

Amazing love and overcome story! Makes you want to know more about the characters and what happens next!

Not satisfied

I really enjoyed the story but I wasn't satisfied with the ending. It could have had better closure.
