I would die for Grrribeetle

This book was witty and charming. Every character has a hidden side that is wonderful to uncover.

The goblins!

I really enjoyed this! This is kind of what I wanted how to become the dark lord and die trying to be. A humorous fantasy. The premise was intriguing and this is a use of the amnesia trope that is actually good. A man wakes up in a dark lords castle and he has no memory of who he is or why there is a princess in the dungeon, only to find out that he is the dark lord but has no idea why or what happened. He tries to fake it till he makes it, but things get complicated when he realizes he’s a part of a plot with multiple dark wizards.

This was so fun! It was funny, light hearted at times, dark at times, there was magic, mayhem, a garlic festival, and character development. Gav has a crisis of finding out who he is again after losing his memories and has to decide what to do and who he wants to be now. The goblin henchmen were surprisingly wholesome and I cared about them. I loved how they became a part of the story. I think the writing and perspective was interesting and thought provoking.

I will read her next book!

Enjoyable

Definitely not my normal pic for a book, but I truly enjoyed it. Fun book about redemption, and very interesting characters.

Interesting characters

A perfect blend of whimsy, magic and character development. A great new fantasy voice. A must for anyone liking cosy fantasy.

A fun silly distraction

I liked that the story goes against expectations in some ways while still being humorous, entertaining, and not giving in to the easy ways out.

a wonderfully cozy fantasy with the perfect narrator choice. This was a highly anticipated release for 2024 and it did not disappoint!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. it was a good story and the narrator did a great job.

Dreadfully Pleasant!

We all have a little Gav to work out here and there, and it's quite nice to enjoy a story with wizards, heros, and many larks tounges.

Interesting premise

I tried to return this after listening to it for a bit and realizing it sounded interesting, but it wasn’t for me, but audible would not let me do that. I gave it a couple more hours thinking it would hook me, but it didn’t.

Terrible Voice Actor and meh story

It sounded intriguing, but the story was just bland and boring. the voice acting is pretty much deep voice for bad guy and DEEPER voice for badder guy. lol. It's so bad.
I suppose the voice actor equates deep voices with evil, which makes 0 sense. Why Gab kept his stupid deep voice, even when everyone knew his secret is beyond me.

Hearing the voice actor trying to make a female voice was sooo annoying. To be fair, I have yet to find a male voice actor who can make a female voice that us not annoying.
Why voice actors don't use programs to lower or bring up the pitch is beyond me. It takes me out of thr story every time a female voice comes up and it sounds like trash.
