Resumen del Editor
Dyslexia is a way for the brain to channel words, symbols, and letters into discernible thoughts. It's not just a disorder or handicap, something that teachers will be disappointed at and parents will be worried about. Over the years, all the dyslexic people I have met in my life have a knack for something other than reading and writing. They are good at construction, computer software, creative thinking, or something technical. These skills, however necessary, are often overlooked when teachers and educators push kids into what they think forms the sole basis for their success in life: literacy.
Now, don't get me wrong, reading and writing matter. They make a difference, and it's harder to do certain things when the process of learning it is slower, but I think that this book can enlighten anyone who is looking to know:
- The strengths that come with a dyslexic brain.
- The definition and symptoms, so you know how to recognize it.
- Ways to work around the forceful writing skills many people don't use as much anymore, anyway.
- Methods to help children understand themselves, accept their quirks, and find their hidden talents.
- Brain and cerebral studies that explain the difference between brains of "regular" people and dyslexic ones.
- Interesting anecdotes about reading faster, overcoming dyslexia, or making the process of acquiring reading skills less frustrating.
- And so much more!
Chances are that you might know someone who is dyslexic. Or perhaps you are just wondering about it. I encourage you to pick up this comparatively cheap audiobook and educate yourself to improve your comprehension of what dyslexia really is and what to do with it.

More than thirty million people in the United States are dyslexic—a brain-based genetic trait, often labeled as a “learning disability” or “learning difference,” that makes interpreting text and reading difficult. Yet even though children with dyslexia may have trouble reading, they don’t have any problems learning; dyslexia has nothing to do with a lack of intellect.

Drs. Brock and Fernette Eide use their impressive backgrounds in neurology and education to debunk the standard deficit-based approach to dyslexia. People typically define "dyslexia" as a reading and spelling disorder. But through published research studies, clinical observations, and interviews with dyslexic individuals, the Eides prove that these challenges are not dyslexia's main features but are instead trade-offs resulting from a different pattern of brain organization and information processing that has powerful advantages.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Words. We use them all the time, every day, mostly without giving them much thought at all. We take for granted that they’re here at our disposal whenever we need them. But if you’ve ever wished you could communicate more effectively, words are the place to start. It’s incumbent upon you to choose the best words to accomplish your goals, because how you choose to communicate influences—well, everything! The power of communication shapes our professional goals, our relationships, and our lives—so the words we choose to use carry a great deal of power.

Great Information
This book is full of great information. It is to the point and very helpful in understanding dyslexia and what do do to help yourself in understanding this mysterious way of life. It stresses that it is not an illness but a different way of life. I love that it explains the positive side of dyslexia which is often overlooked. It also offers actual techniques to help dyslexic people with their challenges.

There is room
There is room for people with dyslexia in this world. Reading and writing are important, but they aren't everything. The author makes that very clear. I liked the suggestions on speed reading, as well as the tips about how to become a better teacher to those who have dyslexia or even dyscalculia, which is a lesser-known deviation in the brain, apparently, for those who have a hard time dealing with nubmers, the exact opposite of math whizzes.

Very well put together
This book explains some of the fundamental truths about dyslexia that you don't often think about. It's based on someone's opinion that those with dyslexia have hidden talents, but that their brains function differently or highlight certain areas or regions more often. That's what makes this book so powerful.

Great for teachers
Teachers who have a hard time teaching students who may have dyslexia, will find that this book contains all they need. It goes over so many details and various aspects of the brain "disorder" and also shows that there are positive sides to dyslexia, something many people don't understand.
Overall, I liked the narrator as well. Most of the book focuses on the symptoms and signs. There are also solutions and aids given. Good listening hear on Audible.

Good to know
I learned a lot about dyslexia that I didn't already know. I was aware of different parts of the disorder, but I didn't know about the brain structure, the talents they have, and the solutions that are out there to help such people. A must-read (or listen) for anyone teaching or working with dyslexic people.

Dyslexia seems more clear now
Not only did this particular audiobook sound like it was top quality, but it also taught me essential aspects of life, and about this idea in particular, of course. So, it certainly deserves a few hard-earned stars.
