Acerca de esta escucha

"[Narrator Frankie] Corzo fluidly shifts from English to Spanish and back in this atmospheric audiobook, adopting a leisurely pace that allows listeners to savor the setting, poetic language, and slow-burn romance. Corzo creates distinct voices for a variety of casually queer Latinx characters. This meditative listen shouldn't be missed." (AudioFile magazine)

From award-winning author Mark Oshiro comes a powerful coming-of-age fantasy novel about finding home and falling in love amidst the dangers of a desert where stories come to life

Xochitl is destined to wander the desert alone, speaking her troubled village's stories into its arid winds. Her only companions are the blessed stars above and enigmatic lines of poetry magically strewn across dusty dunes.

Her one desire: to share her heart with a kindred spirit.

One night, Xo's wish is granted - in the form of Emilia, the cold and beautiful daughter of the town's murderous conqueror. But when the two set out on a magical journey across the desert, they find their hearts could be a match... if only they can survive the nightmare-like terrors that arise when the sun goes down.

Fresh off of Anger Is a Gift's smashing success, Oshiro branches out into a fantastical direction with their new YA novel, Each of Us a Desert.

Amazing Bilingual Queer-Celebrating Fiction

Each of Us aDesert is an amazing queer/trans/non-binary friendly speculative fiction novel. The writing is so beautiful and poetic, and on top of that the characters are complex, beautifully dimensional. Osborn builds a vibrant world taking place generations after an apocalypse-type event, rich with stories and impossible to separate from the desert landscape. Storytelling, truth, and identity are big themes throughout the novel, used to explore not just the characters but the expanse of the world and what is someone’s truth vs what is Truth. But this isn’t a pretentious story. Despite those themes, the story stays grounded in the realities of these characters, their daily struggles. Oshiro never forgets the importance of water in a desert, the heat of the sun, the worry over the darkness of your own pee when water supply is running low. It’s a beautiful story, masterfully told by Corzo. I’ve started recommending this novel - and especially the audio book - to everyone I know.
