La musaraña es el mamífero más pequeño que existe, y es como tal, predador y presa a la vez. Caza porque es carnívoro, y es cazado a causa de su tamaño por otras especies mayores que él: muchas otras y mucho más mayores. PATACHOF es una musaraña, pero no es un personaje al azar; es, por encima de todo, la representación de una actitud, la figura y el modelo de ser social que esta serie de cuentos quiere transmitir.
PATACHOF no vive su vida escondiéndose, con la desconfianza y el recelo propios de su naturaleza. Por contra prefiere salir al mundo a buscar aventuras, osado, resuelto y valiente, sin miedo a descubrir, conocer y enfrentarse a un entorno inmediato en el que impera la ley del más fuerte, del más rápido, del más audaz, o la del más hambriento. Pero la crueldad de la vida esconde una belleza que sólo quienes no se amedrenten acabarán descubriendo. Es el universo de PATACHOF, repleto de hermosas y amenazantes criaturas: es tal vez la fauna del Pirineo donde nació, la analogía más acertada del mundo que hay que acabar descubriendo a pesar de los peligros.
