Acerca de esta escucha

A grouchy mountaineer, a Hollywood starlet, and miles of untamed wilderness....

What could possibly go wrong?

Former Hollywood darling River Lane's acting career is tanking fast. Determined to start fresh behind the camera, she agrees to film a documentary about the picturesque small town of Moose Springs, Alaska. The assignment should have been easy, but the quirky locals want nothing to do with River. Well, too bad: River's going to make this film and prove herself, no matter what it takes.

Or what (literal) mountain she has to climb.

Easton Lockett may be a gentle giant, but he knows a thing or two about survival. If he can keep everyone in line, he should be able to get River and her crew up and down Mount Veil in one piece. Turns out that's a big if. The wildlife's wilder than usual, the camera crew's determined to wander off a cliff, and the gorgeous actress is fearless. Falling for River only makes Easton's job tougher, but there's only so long he can hold out against her brilliant smile. When bad weather strikes, putting everyone at risk, it'll take all of Easton's skill to get them back home safely...and convince River she should stay in his arms for good.

Enjoyed this !

It’s a closed door romance with a good story. Narrator was very good. A lot about climbing. I could see the as a movie. I highly recommend it.

I loved this series and this third one has been my favorite! I hope to revisit these two in a later novel

Distracting Performance and Editing

The story is good overall but several of the chapters being cut off before the end was really frustrating. (I deleted and re-downloaded, no change)

There were also several mispronunciations and one very unfortunate use of the phrase “jerked off” (referring to taking off boots, could have easily said “yanked off” for the same effect without the double meaning). Language and innuendo don’t bother me a bit but this series has neither and would really be ok for the YA set so that threw me.

Back to Moose Springs

This was a fun book to listen to. It was good to return to Moose Springs and catch up with Graham, Zoey, Rick, and Lana. Graham is still Graham and has accepted that he is the mayor.
I enjoyed the first two books in the series more because of the story and characters. I could relate to Zoey and Lana more, and it took me longer (past 50% of the book) to feel a connection to River. My favorite character in the book was Ashtyn, Easton’s twin. She is a “take charge” woman who is confident, independent, resilient, and strong. On the outside she is tough and resilient and suffers no fools. On the inside, she is compassionate and cares for others, especially friends and family and also towards the people she helps and rescues.

hmmm, I don't know why?

I didn't like this book as well as I liked the first two books. And I was really excited for Easton's story. Here's what I loved: I loved that the setting was in Alaska, I loved the appearance of characters from previous books, I loved the adventurous parts that came with climbing the mountain and I loved that it still had me laughing in parts. Here's what I didn't love: the relationship between the two main characters felt rushed, fake and cheesy. Definitely feeling disappointed in this book but overall it was still enjoyable, even if it didn't feel believable at times and it made me cringe in parts for the cheesiness.

This is my least favorite book of the series

This book was ok, and I think I could have liked it more if I liked the character River. I kelp waiting for her to grow up. She kelp pulling one dumb stunt after another and seem to never learn from it. And I soon begin to think Easton was stupid for putting up with it. I finished the book, but will not find myself rereading it. I hope her next one is better if not, I’m through reading this series. The whole series is kinda weird. What town, that depends on the tourist trade to exist works to keep the tourist trade out.

She's pretty

The character we love from previous books suddenly loses all his morals and SAFETY protocol because she's a pretty brat and only at the very end do we uncover she has a tiny bit of personality and values but the point he should have said no in the beginning middle middle again and end! What was seen in the selfish twit during the whole adventure I'll never know, oh yeah looks I forgot.

Dangerous and irresponsible character choices

The H of this story is (supposedly) a careful and thorough guide who safely takes people up a treacherous mountain.

The h is a deeply insecure and selfish person who disregards safety protocol for her own unreasonable entitlement to “adventure.” I hate this dynamic. H doesn’t fire h and her team immediately when they add more gear to a climb.

When one of the filmmakers falls, and needs to be taken off the mountain, h decides she’ll climb alone. As in summit a dangerous noun peak with no experience. Instead of setting aside her own selfish desires, and recognizing how her recklessness endangers others? I stopped listening because I wanted to push this character off the mountain myself.

Being bold and brave? Giving your fears the middle finger? Awesome. But, the top of a frozen monolith isn’t the place or time for it. This behavior is why dozens of people are frozen dead on Mt. Everest.
