Attempts by scientists and artists to reveal deep truths about the universe may take different forms, but they often end up agreeing with the poet John Keats that “truth is beauty”. Geometry, physics, and the other sciences describe the world we live in, and artists often play with these properties in their own imaginative investigations. From the drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci to high tech computer graphics, Neil and Lynne paint a picture of how science has inspired art through the ages.

Mark Twain said, “Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.” Pseudoscience adheres to this adage, but are their distortions deliberate, the result of scientific ignorance, or due to a deep desire for extraordinary possibilities? In our quest to understand the universe, how can we be sure our conclusions are correct? Human beings have evolved to find meaningful patterns in nature, but sometimes the patterns we see are just figments of our imagination — or perhaps the result of wishful thinking.

Resumen del Editor
[Contains explicit content] SF Sketchfest is an annual comedy festival where titans of humor descend upon the quaint township of San Francisco to mercilessly pummel audiences with all forms of live comedic performance. As far live storytelling goes, the King Kong of questions and comments is indisputably Eugene Mirman, and he brought three monsters of comedy onstage to split sides and take names in a special live Hold On at SF Sketchfest 2018. Paula Pell (SNL, AP Bio) crushes her story about getting busted with pot in NYC, Paget Brewster (Another Period, Criminal Minds) destroys with a story about moonlighting at a brothel, and Thomas Lennon (Reno 911, A Futile and Stupid Gesture) tears the roof off with his tale of meeting the late, great James Gandolfini.
In each episode of the Audible Comedy series Hold On, host Eugene Mirman (Bob's Burgers) pauses the funny stories of comedians and performers to get the skinny behind the story. Featured and future guests include: Jim Gaffigan, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Ira Glass, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Kyle Kinane, Jonah Ray, Kumail Nanjiani, Maria Bamford, Hasan Minhaj, Karen Kilgariff, Matt Bellassai, Rhea Butcher, Michael Ian Black, Kelly Oxford, Mo Willems, and more! Enjoy all of the Season 3 episodes in your Audible app.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.
