When Lottie Wannemacher leaves the house with her dog Bronson for one of their daily walks outdoors, the last thing she expects to find is a dead body.
Lottie is a 35-year-old widow who owns her own bakery, a popular spot for the locals to come to for treats and gossip. Along with her loyal pit bull-dalmatian mix companion, she has enjoyed a peaceful lifestyle despite losing her husband Paul prematurely to an illness.
On the other hand, there’s Cliff Carmichael. In his youth, he was seen as a high school bully who would beat, mock, and torment his classmates. Although Cliff has done well financially and tried to give back to the community as an adult, many people still resent him. The bully’s multitude of victims hasn’t forgotten his previously nasty behaviors.
Today, things change in the small town of Tinsel Peaks. Lottie and Bronson discover a body out on the trail where they are walking.
Cliff Carmichael is dead. Someone shot him in the chest.
Traumatized by finding the body, Lottie sets out to solve the crime. Narrowing down the list of suspects isn’t easy. Pretty much everyone in town owns a shotgun. Baking is second nature for Lottie. Amateur sleuthing… not so much.
