Resumen del Editor

Fault Lines is by a non-academic former businessman and consultant, widely traveled in the Middle East, for those interested in understanding the often convoluted history of American Middle East policy. The audiobook explains the fault lines that have often plagued US efforts to protect its national interests in the region and how these ongoing faults have led to a precipitous decline in American influence. It also includes some recommendations as to how this decline can be reversed.

Comprehensive!

I really learned a lot from listening to this book. It's an extensive history of the Middle East, with well stated timelines, huge amounts of historical data, interspersed with anecdotes from real people. The book was spawned when a businessman decided to try and figure out why middle easterners hate Americans so much. Basically, America has been unable to keep its nose out of foreign countries where oil is a major concern. Our passive atrocities have kept compounding since the First World War. It makes me sick that our loyalties keep changing to back the winning team. I received this book as a gift, in exchange for an honest review. Based on the description, I didn't think I was going to like it, but I ended up listening to it all day. I feel qualified to actually have an in depth conversation about these issues. Excellent!

Educational and insightful analysis of Mid-East

I enjoyed Fault Lines. The analysis of the present situation in the Mid-East was based on history of not only the US but all the other nations that have impacted the area. I feel I have a better understanding of how truly complex the situation is. This book is a great starting point to learn more. The best thing about Fault Lines was it was balanced.

The narration by Jack Chekijian was very good. He has a voice that is enjoyable to listen to. As this book was nonfiction there is not the usual review of male/female voices or accents included. Mr. Chekijian’s voice was good enough that I will look for more books narrated by him.

Since I really am uneducated about the situation in the Mid-East, Fault Lines was great. Someone with more understanding or better educated about the situation would need to address the accuracy of the book. I thought it was terrific and left me wanting to learn more about the area.

Past and current history presented concisely

The author begins with a history of the area from early 20th century, moves along in time and then provides a witness testimony to more recent events. It becomes flagrantly clear that nations other than those within the region have consistently abused the governments and peoples of these nations for their own profit and/or aggrandizement. This background is essential to know if understanding of current politics is to be attained. The perceived aim of the book is not to lay blame, but to provide an understanding essential to moving forward.
Narrator Jack provides an excellent way to learn from what can be a rather dry teaching tool.

The title says it all...

An interesting look at the Middle East and their thoughts about the US government and it's n policies.Learn how the US had their hand in on the deal an how we helped shape it to what it is today. This is a non fiction book that has an in-depth look in a language we can all understand at policies, procedures and so on. If you ever wanted to learn how we, as a country got to where we are in the Middle East, this is a good read for you...

The author, Don Liebich did a fine job going into details on this book with 10+ years of experience to back him. The narrator, Jack Chekijian does a great job in the delivery of this book. I swear Mr Chekijijan could make a clothes label sound interesting!

An Incredible Timeline of Events in the Mideast

I was really wowed by the incredibly detailed timeline and story/history of events leading up to and explaining America's relationship with the Middle East including Syria, Arabia, Libya, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, and ALL the countries. It was well documented and detailed which filled many holes for me regarding things I didn't know.

As things change ever so fast, it's good to know the entire history. I think anyone interested in this subject (and everyone should be) should listen to this audiobook. Great job by Don Liebich.

Jack Chekijian is a fantastic narrator. He has a smooth, easy on the ears tone. He speaks clearly with perfect timing. His professionalism shows and he's easily one of my favorite readers. An absolutely terrific job.

Fault lines

Any additional comments?

Maybe a good audiobook for someone looking for an introduction to the region, but analysis wasn't great in a lot of places and I did not take too much away from this book
