There is no doubt that the photographic legacy of Felice Beato (1834 – 1909), influenced many photographers during his lifetime and afterwards. Thousands of his photographs have survived, and can be seen in museum collections all over the world. In addition, there are many public and private collections that contain fine examples of Felice Beato’s exemplary work.
Photographs and albums produced during Beato’s lifetime are a testament to the highest level of artistic and documentary photography that he gave to the world of the nineteenth century.
License has been used to convey a sense of the man in the absence of documentation available.
