Hanin Lahiri is the American born daughter of two Indian immigrants, and all her life she's struggled with her identity, caught between one world and another. Expectations of her as an individual seem constantly pulled in opposite and unrealistic directions, and even when she does manage to please those around her, she can't help but feel she's being disingenuous to herself, whatever that abstract, undeveloped true self may be. College provides her with freedom, but eventually leads to her breaking down and questioning just about everything she knows about herself, and as a means of putting the pieces of herself back together, she leaves one summer to go and explore her heritage in her ancestral land of India. Things take an unexpected and permanent turn, however, when Hanin is attacked by a wild tiger, and soon begins to undergo transformations into one of the majestic felines herself, condemned now to a life spent forever in the jungle as a fierce tiger shifter. And when she happens to encroach upon the territory of a fellow female shifter, the ensuing confrontation ends up getting a bit on the physical side between the two of them...
