Resumen del Editor

How far must we travel to find our way home?

Nothing could have prepared Brennan Glover for the car crash that claimed the lives of his wife and six-year-old daughter. Stricken with grief, the only things that get him through each day are breaking his sobriety and clinging to Fender - the family dog and the sole survivor of the crash.

Desperate to distance Brennan from tragedy, his two closest friends take him on the cross-country road trip they had always talked about. But what begins as an effort to mend his broken heart ends up unraveling a secret that changes everything he thought he knew about his family. Can a journey of 6,000 miles lead Brennan to acceptance and new beginnings?

From finding the good in an often cruel world to learning to say goodbye to those we love most, this sophomore release from author Brent Jones is sure to leave listeners longing for home, wherever that may be.

Great read

Fender by Brent Jones was another great read by the author. Brennan is still grieving the death of his wife and young daughter in a car crash. His two closest friends get him to agree to go on a cross country road trip. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by Brent Jones.

I felt somehow personally involved

Brent Jones wrote this story as though he knew the trio in the story personally. It's as though he could read and feel the characters' most inner thoughts and feelings.

Wyatt Baker brought this story to an even deeper dimension. Wyatt's voices expressed the character's feelings and allowed me to become somehow personally involved. Wyatt brought the characters to life (even the dog, Fender.)

I've owned and loved dogs throughout my life so I could totally relate to the attachment Brennan Glover had with his dog Fender. The final chapters of this audio story brought me to tears. I will always remember Fender.

Thank you Brent, Thank you Wyatt.

An emotionally wonderful story

What an emotional journey! Fender is a wonderful story of discovery + hope. As a certified dog mom (yes, I made that up), I loved reading the interactions between the pup Fender and his human Brennan. I also thoroughly enjoyed the progression that the road trip symbolized. I don't want to give anything away too much but some of my favorite moments are at the halfway point.

The author does a great job of getting you to care for the main characters and absolutely despise some of the others. Brennan's late wife's parents are the worst! His friends genuinely care for him. By the end, you're rooting for Brennan to succeed.

I also loved the narration! The voice actor did a fantastic job of capturing the emotion.

All in all, I highly recommend this lovely book to everyone! You don't have to be a dog lover to enjoy the story either.

Nice, easy read about loss and hope.

A young man in his 30s suffers some of life's most awful tragedies. He'll depend on two good friends to lift him out of his sorrow via a cross-country road trip. Joining these three friends is the young man's dog, Fender -- a very special beagle that was rescued from abuse and abandonment. While the young man's sadness and grief permeates most of the story, it ends on a high note when he finds perspective and strength to look towards his future. My favorite quote goes something like, ''Find a way to live the life ahead of you instead of the life behind you.''

Overall, a nicely written easy read. Narrator Wyatt Baker's performance does a good job of enhancing Jones's written word. Not bad at all!

I was provided a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for my unbiased review. Many thanks to the author for this opportunity!

Mixed bag. Try and see.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

I'm finding writing a review for this one difficult because I'm not exactly able to form an opinion about this book. On one hand, it has some really well thought out and relatable characters. The author makes you personally connect with Brennan and feel his pain n struggle. This is always a strong suit of story telling when the listeners are able to identify with a character and get pulled in. But then I felt like the author took it to the extreme end and banked on the "emotional response" from the listener a whole lot. That is, throughout the book, all you get is a closer n closer look at the way the character is hurting and you feel sad for him and you want him to win and you want him to get better etc.. There's hardly any sequence where you enjoy the book.

So you see, I'm confused about how I'm feeling about it. I didn't get bored, but I wasn't entertained either. The story was fine and yet, I wouldn't wanna listen to anything like it again. Dunno how to classify this.

Good Life Lesson Story

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, via Audiobook Boom, and have voluntarily left this review."

This is a story centered around a man, his three lifelong friends and their attempt to help him after the death of his wife and daughter. They take a cross-country journey of discovery of not only themselves but relationships, forgiveness, betrayal and what it means to truly be friends. The main character discovers what he is truly made of and how deceit can destroy or build you up.The narrator was perfect.

I Expected More

Very choppy as the author moves from present to past a little too often for my taste. Narration was a bit lacking and was hoping for a bigger part for Fender. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Blast
