Fin MacAuliffe had always been less than masculine, never truly confident enough to be himself. If there was a God, he made Matt DiFiore personally. Disheveled, straight black hair that appeared to be self-cut. Chiseled cheekbones. Tanned, smooth skin. Fin knew he was staring. Matt's lower half was covered by track pants with side snaps, but Fin knew that beneath those snaps were the most glorious legs in existence. Those full lips wrapped around an apple, biting down as a small smile formed and he turned to walk...Fin's...way.

So I was feeling adventurous this weekend and decided to try an author's debut M/M romance along with a new-to-me narrator. Surprisingly, it turned out pretty well. I enjoyed Fin and Matt. Once you get over the insta-love and jealousy, their story is pretty sweet. And I think I'd like Fin's parents to adopt me, LOL! I agree with others that the epilogue was completely unnecessary, but I knew that going in. I listened to it because I was curious, but I'm going to ignore it for the purpose of rating this book. The narration was great. I will definitely look for more from Luke Itzvic.

UNACCEPTABLE

the ending is chronically logical, but I still was not expecting it to hurt so much, how dare Charlie Winters do them like that, I'm in utter shambles!

Low Angst Contemporary M/M Romance

The title is apropos - as it was just a nice, low angst journey of two men - Fin & Matt - who meet and fall in love. The story was good, but I wasn't wowed. The heat was enough - there was definitely more story than love scenes but when there were they felt sensual to me. Luke Itzvic is not the most talented performer but he did a satisfactory job - he didn't enhance the story but he didn't hinder it either. That being said, Luke did however, affect an Irish accent fairly well. I read earlier reviewers warnings not to listen to the epilogue so I am thankful that because of those warnings I knew what to expect because there is no way I couldn't listen. I think I understand what the author Charlie intended, but I don't think it was executed very well. Charlie wanted to show that Fin and Matt had full lives before Matt's passing but that can't be the case because he was only in his 50s. He died and left Fin and their daughter alone and there wasn't a sense of bittersweetness of his passing. All the author accomplished with the epilogue is bring me from feeling content with a seemingly happy ending with Matt and Fin getting married to feeling sad with the deaths of Matt's mother, Fin's father and then his own mother - deaths that really had no reasons to be mentioned. I can't help but think Charlie shot themselves in the foot with that ending. The best sad bittersweet ending of all time to me is in the movie "The Notebook" with Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Yeah, the older couple both died, but they died together so you couldn't help but smile and cry at the same time.

Saddest Ending EVER!

Such a good story if you don't listen to the epilogue. The epilogue is the worst thing I've ever heard and left me feeling emotionally drained.

This was such a sweet love story. I did ball my eyes out at the epilogue but it was a review if their lives. It did make ending a great book with a seriously heavy heart though. But I truly enjoyed it.
