Only 50% in....and I'm Immersed!

I had to return to my 1st review, after finishing the series, to give my end thoughts....Because I enjoyed this series so much! If you live for unique fantasy RH series, you have to give this a try! Even the slower moments served a purpose. You may not see why, but it all means something. This has been added to my "read again" list. Be warned, the beginning was the most heartwrenching for me & had me tearing up! Just so good!

Oh. My. Goodness. The feels in this book so far & I'm only halfway through! I spent hours looking for a good PNR RH or UF RH....I was about to give up & revert to Netflix lol. Audible kept recommending this series to me; but I kept passing it up because of the title & cover art. It seemed too dark for my current "story mood". This gem was also posted on a book-lover's blog, with excellent reviews, so I decided to check it out.
Absolutely no regrets atm.

This doesn't feel like your typical run-of-the-mill RH. Mainly because of how the main characters interact, for a lack of better words. While there is an underlying somber feel, it's not a complete mood crusher. At least it's not so far. Without spoilers.....This story gives me a feeling like a close friend recounting a sad experience & all you want to do is give them a hug & murmur reassurances.
That's how I feel.

I can't wait to find out how this will all unfold & what secrets lay in their past (& futures). The speed of the story seems good right now. It's in a good balance, for how early I am in the book.

My favorite line so far (I left out words that may spoil the storyline)......
"I'll make farting noises while wearing a dolphin costume...."

Once you hear this (Chapter 13) you'll get the whole picture on why it's funny lol.

The narrator helps to capture the emotions being expressed by the characters & it just immersed me even more! This is my first Hollie Jackson listen & she's definitely added to my good narrator list! I'm just happy she doesn't use annoying inflections/tones at the end of sentences, no unnatural breaths, or awkward pauses. Occasionally I hear some nasally words; but it's not distracting. I return books with horrible narration; because I can't finish them & I actively avoid certain narrators when looking for a series or book.

If you're stuck in book limbo, experiencing withdrawls from finishing a beloved series, or just appreciate a well-written PNR RH, give this a chance!

I first read the books to this series I couldn’t put it down. Read all of them in days. Now it on audible and it’s awesome.

Fun

The heroine is so fun and snarky! I enjoyed this start to what is sure to be a great series.

awesome book

Awesome book and interesting story idea. I can definitely tell that the author has read Signs of Cupidity and Curse of the Gods though. It copies a lot. but overall enjoyable

A complete success!

Utterly charming! Dark, witty, funny, smart.... I’m a 50 year old southern country boy. This book is so far outside my normal reading material that I questioned purchasing it, but glad I did. After the loss of my wife I started getting into dark romances and somehow led me to the reverse harem genre. I’ve only read or listened to a few and this is the best of them all. Looking forward to the next which I am getting right now.

Love the main character

I love the sarcasm, humor, and snark from the main character. It’s a great book to listen to and/or read. It’s story line is both filled sensual scenes and keeps you hooked on what’s going to happen next

What's A Girl Gonna Do?

Definitely a strange concept but damn if I'm not already hooked. Looking forward to the answer of this conspiracy!

Amazing

I loved listening to this so much. It took me less than 2 days to get through it and I have no regrets doing so. I've already preordered the next book and can only imagine it's just as amazing.

Pure gold!

The main character has the best personality. Could have more spice, but that’s more personal choice lol. Literal laughing out loud and tears reading through this books. Beyond would recommend and cannot wait to read more of her books.
