Resumen del Editor

Here is a collection of poems spanning the period from my late teenage years into my early 20s. It is a coming-of-age story told through the constant reflection and self-analysis to which I have always been prone.

It deals, first and foremost, with the love of a young woman, a love that is never attained. It also drifts into a cleverly philosophical, sometimes inspirational, often times angst-ridden or frustrated, and occasionally auto-biographical, musical, or even comedic reality.

With the diction of these poems, I hope to draw the listener into the human mind and the human heart. Hailing from the same town as Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson, I feel that a listener might find it easy, in the language of these poems, to evoke the imagery of a young man lost in the forest, facing the choice of multiple directions and trying somehow to find his way through obviously unmarked trails.

There is clearly no right or wrong way to go on this path through the woods, the one which represents the true journey I was on - the voyage from boyhood to manhood.

Moving and Romantic Coming-of-Age Mastery

Kats has really evoked a bit of the old-fashioned in this unique and nuanced collection of poems. Sometimes telling stories, such as in "Out of the Dream," a seemingly made-up fairy tale; sometimes being a total rhyming genius and wordsmith, as in "Infatuation Evacuation," in which every line of a 20+ line poem uses the suffix -ation, usually twice per line, as well as "Tension Comprehension"; sometimes writing epic poetry, as in the 4-page long "And It Ended In Sunshine," and the 3-page long, "Apple of My Eye"; and sometimes using abstract and shorter poems that do not rhyme, yet convey imagery and secret hidden messages, as in "Castle In Deep" and "Purple Aura", combined with the clever rhyming of "Lights, Camera, Fiction"; and sometimes weeping for nature, in "Fragment and Slice By Blade," a cause well ahead of its time, yet so relevant today - this poet's perspective is new and exciting, as he combines wisdom with innocence in a such a mysterious and enchanting way, all the while showing how a young adult becomes a young man. Truly mesmerizing, and a book that must be heard to be believed!
