Drawing on years of experience at the industry’s highest levels, he dispels common misconceptions and distills essential wisdom on every facet of the process. This compelling, accessible, and candid primer is a must-read for first-time founders and startup veterans alike. Although software has become easier to build, launching and scaling new products and services remains difficult. Start-ups face daunting challenges entering the technology ecosystem, including stiff competition, copycats, and ineffective marketing channels. Teams launching new products must consider the advantages of “the network effect”, where a product or service’s value increases as more users engage with it. Apple, Google, Microsoft, and other tech giants utilize network effects, and most tech products incorporate them.

You shouldn't ask anyone if your business is a good idea. It's a bad question, and everyone will lie to you at least a little. As a matter of fact, it's not their responsibility to tell you the truth. It's your responsibility to find it, and it's worth doing right.

Every iconic tech company was once a startup. And while these companies like to paint an origin story full of surefooted confidence, the truth is usually something different: the early life of most startups is pure chaos. This chaos comes from the vastly different motivations and incentives between those with the vision and those with the money. From fundraising paranoia to boardroom coups, Zalman and Neumann train their inimitable voices on the gulf between what founders and investors promise to do and what they end up actually doing.

Since the 1950s, nonprofits have relied on impersonal outreach to inspire generosity from their donors. They leveraged direct mail, mass marketing, and event fundraising to drive donations. With the introduction of social media, smartphones, and a hyper-connected world, everything changed. The new normal for everyone became transparency, personalization, and a feeling of ever-present engagement. In addition, donors also had new levels of access to information to the causes they cared about. Unfortunately, as expectations evolved, nonprofit fundraisers failed to keep up.

Historia
Since the 1950s, nonprofits have relied on impersonal outreach to inspire generosity from their donors. They leveraged direct mail, mass marketing, and event fundraising to drive donations. With the introduction of social media, smartphones, and a hyper-connected world, everything changed. The new normal for everyone became transparency, personalization, and a feeling of ever-present engagement. In addition, donors also had new levels of access to information to the causes they cared about. Unfortunately, as expectations evolved, nonprofit fundraisers failed to keep up.

Very Informative
This resource was critically analyzed as a part of the fundraising and networking strategy development at my workplace and I'd like to start off by saying this is a very informative read. Mr. Breslow goes very in depth in what it means to, not just fundraise your startup, but to build the network that your startup will eventually rely upon. He touches on many different details and individual scenarios to get his point across. Mr. Breslow also emphasizes how important it is to hold back from asking for investment too early as well as to maintain a respectable distance from investors, as you are a busy founder and must maintain this persona to build respect from potential investors. All in all, Mr. Breslow does an excellent job offering guidance in "Fundraising" through the use of scenario analysis, a description of the persona of a busy founder, and behavioral expectation of a busy founder.

Worth it.
If you’re looking for up to date information on raising capital for a business this is it. It’s very succinct.
Think of this book as a friend you wish you had, giving advice on this subject for an hour.
The audio quality is fine, the reader is the author, this isn’t Dune with Timothy Chalamet, this is straightforward business advice. And the advice is good.
Essentially it’s $15 for a 1 hour book, but it’s dense and if you’re looking for this info. That $15 to raise $15M.
