Resumen del Editor

Is it really free? Unlimited? Can it save “a wretch like me”?

A few years ago I was invited to write a series of radio essays on this greatest of all Bible topics: Amazing grace. I had a lot of fun with it! It’s always been my job, during my radio years, to dig and claw and scratch and find the most memorable illustrations possible. So I went to a lot of Dodger games. I didn’t exactly turn in my receipts, including parking and popcorn, but it was a wonderful experience to try to find ways of making this wonderful theme in Scripture come to life here in the 21st century. So here we have them. Twenty-five hopefully dynamic essays on Christian grace. To a cynical world’s lament that “it can’t be that easy,” heaven’s reply is plain: Yes, it really can. The forgiveness that flows from Calvary is eternal and nonnegotiable if we will simply reach out and grasp it.

We’ve also just finished up a companion audiobook entitled “The Saga of Farmer Jesus,” and it’s overflowing with humor and stories as well. I’d love to have you check out both projects.

One more thing. The best way to grasp the power of the gospel is to see it spring to life in the daily journeys of regular people just like us. Not long ago, I spent weekends and summer breaks writing ten new love stories set in my childhood mission home of Bangkok. Rachel Marie is a superstar teacher drafted from California to Thailand to infect Bangkok Christian School with her unique brand of devout gospel funk. Every story ends with an engagement ring and a kiss, and there are plenty of car chases and painful detours through the red-light district as well. I invite you to enjoy the first book, “Love in a Distant Land,” as an audiobook travelogue narrated by my friend Tonya Foster Yancey. On a personal level, I just retired from my wonderful job as a math professor at San Bernardino Valley College. Lisa and I have two amazing daughters, Kami and Karli, and four grandkids: Kira, Katrina, Audrey, and Miles.
