Resumen del Editor

In the most extraordinary journey Ann Rule has ever undertaken, America's master of true crime has spent more than two decades researching the story of the Green River Killer, who murdered more than 49 young women.

Green River, Running Red is a harrowing account of a modern monster, a killer who walked among us undetected. It is also the story of his quarry - of who these young women were and who they might have become. A chilling look at the darkest side of human nature, this is the most important and most personal audiobook of Ann Rule's long career.

Narrator ruined it.

I have been reading Ann Rule’s book since I was a child and was looking forward to this one as I am from the Seattle area. However, Caruso’s narration was so bad that I couldn’t finish it and returned it. Beyond the horrible wheezy tone and cadence of her narration, her consistent mispronunciation of our towns was highly annoying. (Puyallup should be pew-allup not poo-allup).

Good, but…

Love the book, but I can’t handle the narrator. It’s giving “I’m an older woman from a small town who’s husband has money and I think I’m better than everyone else” vibes. They way she pronounces words is like nails down a chalkboard. I have found myself rolling my eyes and saying “just say it normally” too many times.

Interesting way to tell this story...

I enjoyed this book. A lot of looking at the victims and who they were and what clues they left.

Good narration by Caruso

Super super super boring!

I somehow missed the reviews about this being so boring. I saw a review where this woman raved about loving how they took you on a walk with each suspect they looked at, and how it was her being on the edge of her seat, and all that through the whole book. Face palm!!! Well let me tell you I regret using a credit on this book. It wasn’t awful it was just so boring. If you’re bored, and have absolutely nothing else to read then sure go for it.

Narration was a bit jarring

The narrator had bizarre pauses that often made me think my audiobook had stopped playing.

Successful predator murders many women.

Ann Rule dedicated many years to the apprehension of this monster. Her dedication was inspiring.

Shame about the narrator

A very comprehensive look at the Green River Murders. I’m glad that the main focus was on the women he raped & murdered, their lives and characters outside of being victims of his awful crimes. Unfortunately, the narrator is very prim which jars and her tone is monotonous and hard to listen to which is a shame.

Hard to get through

I love Ann Rule. She's an American treasure. This one is tough to get through for a couple reasons. First, Ann has a tendency to go down rabbit holes. This book is about a serial killer with somewhere around 40 victims. Ann thoroughly presents info on each victim, but with that many victims... it's just a neverending presentation of victim life stories. In a few cases, she went back to the victims early childhood. and when it's just story after story after story, it gets hard to listen to.
in another case, she' goes WAY too far down the rabbit hole in describing a suspect. She' spends over an hour of the book on describing this guy. and, I get it. he LOOKED like he might be the GRK. BUT after listening to the narrator to on and on and on about this guy, knowing that he ISN'T the killer... I just found myself thinking "come ON, Ann! Move on! This isn't the guy! You've clearly established that he looked like a good candidate long ago, but you just kept going on and on about him. "
