Acerca de esta escucha

Rush

All I want is to finish college, live life as a musician, and love the man of my dreams. That man, however, is Simon Manos, nephew of crime boss Christopher Manos, and there's a war brewing on the streets of Haven Hart. Achieving my dreams has to be done while ducking bullets, trying not to get blown up, and hoping enemies don't kill me.

Simon

I love Rush and want him to have everything he could ever hope for—all that his father denied him. As the heir to the Manos family business, it's not quite that simple; I have responsibilities to fulfill. Haven Hart is getting dangerous, enemies need to be dealt with, and unfortunately, our dreams of the future must be put on hold.

We call on old friends and band together to face a common threat. When we're forced into hiding, the situation escalates and the odds don't seem to be in our favor. We do the only thing we can . . . stand our ground to the bitter end. As our lives start to fall apart, the unasked question is posed: Will someone have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save everyone?

Contains mature themes.

Going to War

Part two of Simon and Rush’s story is as suspenseful and action packed as part one. And it has the unfailing love I always cherish in Davidson King’s books. Rush is still coming to terms with his new life as part of the Manos family. Simon is determined to keep Rush safe from the dark parts of that life. They’re embroiled in a war they don’t want, but that’s necessary. They find unlikely allies in former enemies, and get swept up in the chaos they’re just trying to survive. I love the second part of their story as much as the first. And the end is perfection. Davidson King’s writing is always stellar, and John Solo and Alexander Cendese did an even better job on Simon’s second book than the first, and I loved their narration in the first book! I definitely recommend all the books in the Haven Hart world. I could live in that world.

Epic

What an epic ending to an amazing series! It’s always nice to see the rest of the family coming together again for one last epic roll.

And you know a series and a storyline is good when at the end of the book, you’re left with a smile and wanting more.

Good Book

I like this whole series and all the characters. I love Rush and Simon they are a great couple. I do like you hear 1 year later but would be good to get more of Rush and Simon like when he takes over the family would be interesting to hear about and what Snow and Christopher do in retirement

Loved the series. Thank god narration inproved

Honestly, Alexander's voice for the first book in Simon's series was rough, especially when he voiced Snow, but he seems to have relaxed a bit or pulled back and that was a tremendous improvement. I genuinely fell in love with John's voice that I'm seeking out other books of his. Looking forward to more Davidson books in the future 🫰🏾

Good story, inconsistent narration

I don’t understand why the narrators of all the previous books in this series voiced Poe with a foreign accent yet the narrators of this audiobook did not. Can they not listen to previous audiobooks in the series and do their best to match what has been done by their predecessors? Also, one of my pet peeves is when an audiobook has two narrators and they are inconsistent in the way they voice the same characters. I don’t expect them to be identical, but I do think they should be as similar as possible. Definitely a worthwhile read, though, not ruined by the points of narration that slightly bugged me.

Terrible narration

Out of all the books in the series this was by far the absolute worst. The only narration that was partially tolerable was Simon and Rush. They weren’t characters previously developed as adults in the other books. The rest, OMG horrendous. I mean, what were the author and editor thinking to allow this? Black sounded like a big doofus. Snow sounded like a giant, shallow queen. I couldn’t even differentiate the other’s personalities. It was really awful! I suppose reading it would have been fine but audible was awful. Christopher sounded like a mafia cartoon character. Oh and if they said it once they said it 5 times that one or the other of Simon or Rush had “blown pupils”. Typically, blown pupils are seen in response to brain damage caused by trauma or stroke. I understand they’re trying to indicate extreme sexual arousal but that is the most annoying expression.
