Never disappoints

Always a great story with this empathetic and familiar lead character engaged in yet another adventure. Always a good listen and never disappoints.

A Fantastic

This is the latest in the Anna Pigeon mystery series. Each mystery is set in a National Park - this one takes place in Yosemite. Even if you haven't read the previous books in the series, you'll find this a great read! All the elements of a great mystery - action, twisting plots, inability to stop listening! Better yet, when you're finished (and hooked on Nevada Barr) you can go back and read the 10 or so books that precede this one!

My favorite one, though I’m only halfway through.

There isn’t much I like more than finding a character I like, and really good writing. Anna Pigeon is one of those characters , and Nevada Barr’s writing is so, so good. Barbara Rosenblatt’s narration bothered me during the first one I read, as I was annoyed by hearing her breathing. Now, she seems perfect. The plots are interesting and make sense, and it’s also great to hear about the parks Anna works in as a ranger. These are really good books!

pretty good

I have not read a mystery for many years (Hardy Boys in High School), so I decided to get this one as a light summer read. The author's descriptions of Yosemite Valley and the surrounding mountians are impressive and accurate. As a frequent traveler to this area, I found the authors use of setting to be the most enjoyable aspect of the book. I will be considering more books by Nevada Barr.

Good story, wrong reader

Nevada is a great tale spinner, and you get the expected pacing, tension, and intriguing setting. But I'm so sorry they chose Barbara Rosenblat as the reader. I love her in the Elizabeth Peters series, but she seems to be a one trick pony: she plays Anna just as she plays Amelia, arch and coy. Anna is the opposite of that, and it jars all the way through. Still, in spite of the reader, this was worth my purchase.

HIGH COUNTRY

This is another good adventure in the life of Anna peigion. I have enjoyed all the books I've listened to about Anna. I like the outdoor mystery type genre. There easy to stay interested in. I will continue with this series. Barbara Rosenbalt does a good job narrating this book.

My Favorite So Far! Couldn't Hit "Pause" Button!

This story was FANTASTIC! I couldn't stop listening to see what was going to happen next... I also couldn't help pulling out Google Earth to see America's Diamond of a gem National Park and imagine where the events took place. I now have a list of all the National Parks I can't wait to visit when we are empty nested. I appreciate the protagonist keeping her "commitments" despite temptation. The characters explored several important problems people and the parks might face. The middle action was terrific. I finished this book in record time!

Constant mayhem and the scariest one so far

This is the one that seems scariest to me. It is also exhausting to read because there is so much action. I hope Anna took a long vacation after this one.

Enjoyed

I always enjoy Nevada Barr's books and this one is no exception. Anna gets herself in tight spots but wins in the end.

The way, Barbara Rosenblat Narrates it, and the interesting adventures and scary situations Anna finds herself in. 

I really enjoyed the book. I can’t say what I disliked about it. Except for one thing if only there were more adventures and situations that were funny, corgi scary in the book the book would last longer because I hated that it had to end.
