Each one will take us a little farther down the Old Testament road until we get to the goal: to Jesus, the one in whom the whole story finds fulfillment and meaning.

"An enjoyable ride"
I'm halfway through my hitchhike with Chad Bird. it's great to have him as a tour guide because some of these prophets scare me : ) we just got picked up by Moses in Exodus.
This trip through the old testament is one I would recommend for everyone. I thought I had the realistate of the old testament well layed out in my mind, but even in Chad's consice survey I am picking up a lot of details I missed. What he has attempted in this I haven't seen done before. A complete survey of the Old Testament told in a narrative that pulls you from one scene to the next with ease. From flawed character to flawed character he weaves a cord of grace and redemption through some savage scenes and like every good tour guide reminds those with him of the destination (Jesus) around every corner.
This is a great read for anyone, but if you know someone who stays away from the old testament because of all the "potholes" this would be a great read (listen) for them.

Very perceptive of the key elements that pointed in the Old Testament to Messiah Jesus

The Old Testament is about Jesus
Chad Bird does a great job retelling the story of the Old Testament in a way that is accessible and easy to listen to. Not only does he share personal stories and helpful analogies, but he does so in a down to earth way that makes it easy to follow and understand. While doing so he reveals the great depth of the Old Testament story inviting the reader to learn something new and encouraging the reader to dive into more studies later. Above all Chad’s book always points us to Christ and he demonstrates convincingly that the Old Testament is about Jesus the Messiah, and his great love for you and me.

Thoughtful, provoking
Chad Bird's greatest gift is to take the Bible stories we know and bring them alive in a new way. From the very beginnings of creation and the fall through to the intertestamental period and into Jesus' lifetime, this brief overview not only provides fresh insight in to old Scriptures, but does it in modern terms that anyone can understand.
Absolutely worth the time to listen to this!
