A naturalist who spent months at a time living on her own among wild creatures in remote jungles, Sy Montgomery had always felt more comfortable with animals than with people. So she gladly opened her heart to a sick piglet who had been crowded away from nourishing meals by his stronger siblings. Yet Sy had no inkling that this piglet, later named Christopher Hogwood, would not only survive but flourish.

Historia
In One Wild Bird at a Time, Heinrich returns to his great love: close, day-to-day observations of individual wild birds. Heinrich's observations lead to fascinating questions - and sometimes startling discoveries. A great crested flycatcher bringing food to the young acts surreptitiously and is attacked by the mate. Why? A pair of northern flickers hammering their nest-hole into the side of Heinrich's cabin delivers the opportunity to observe the feeding competition between siblings.

Early in 2013 Neil Hayward was at a crossroads. He didn't want to open a bakery or whatever else executives do when they quit a lucrative but unfulfilling job. He didn't want to think about his failed relationship with 'the one' or his potential for ruining a new relationship with 'the next one'. And he almost certainly didn't want to think about turning 40. And so instead he went birding. Birding was a lifelong passion. It was only among the birds that Neil found a calm that had eluded him in the confusing world of humans.

Historia
In the snow country of Japan during World War II, we meet Morie Sawataishi, a fierce individualist who has chosen to break the law by keeping an Akita dog hidden in a shed on his property. By the time of the Japanese surrender in 1945, there are only sixteen Akitas left in the country. The survival of the breed becomes Morie's passion and life. Devoted to the dogs, Morie is forever changed.
In beautiful prose that is a joy to read, Sherrill opens up the world of the Dog Man and his wife, providing a profound look at what it is to be an individualist in a culture that reveres conformity, and what it means to live.

Magical
Hootie's Hollow invites us to connect with nature, capturing lessons and synchronicity of life. Energy goes where attention goes, and The Magical Tree is definitely flourishing with magic. This story is educational and as capturing as Hootie. Turning a sad loss into a birth of a new beginning of animal friendships, this story showcases that there is more to death in a gentle manner for kids. Nature has much to teach us, and Hootie's Hollow demonstrates just how magical it can be to be open to these lessons.

Wonderful animal wildlife stories!
A wondrous plethora of wildlife stories for the entire family. Educational and amusing. Highly recommended to have in house for reading to children and children learning to read about animal life outside their home. Also, listening as a learning lesson for classroom and family time. Or as I did, a lovely downtime listening to a book about animal life.
Highly recommended to everyone
