Good plot

Definitely held my attention until the end. Really good plot that’s made even more interesting by the fact that it could actually happen in the current political climate, unfortunately. But there were a lot of plot holes and big coincidences that took away from it. Also, I was able to figure out the twist at the beginning because that character was presented as being a little off from the get go.

Filled with scary ideas on USA future

Great capture of American life and issues. Twists and turns made it sometimes difficult to keep on. Liked the different characters defined in chapters.

Non stop cringe read

No spoiler review. The narration for a couple characters was a bit off but, still good. I like consistently paced narration or narration that if I speed it up I can still catch every word. That is not applicable here. The story is truly cringe-worthy bc all you can do is watch one “balloon” pop after another. Meaning every-time something happened, more crap happened right after that. Just bad luck upon bad decisions, upon white privilege, upon racism, upon holy crap humans really do suck. I truly felt guilt for the treatment some characters got and anger for some that didn’t get what they deserve. I really enjoyed the book.

Unremarkable

Having read or listened to the Sam Wyndham series, I consider Abir Mukherjee as a great author.

But this book was disappointing to say the least. I almost gave up 4 - 5 times but I trudged on. For example, the way Sajid escaped from the cops in Canada was ludicrous, as was his entry into the US. Not good at all. Might work for folks who have never been to either country.

Couldn't relate to the story at all.
