Acerca de esta escucha

"Allison Raskin’s book unpacks the questions and uncertainties around marriage that so many of us have... a must-read for anyone and everyone that may be curious about the intricacies of modern marriage.” –Nick Viall, TV Personality, Host of The Viall Files, and Bestselling Author

From
Just Between Us cohost and bestselling author Allison Raskin comes a witty, incisive take on modern marriage and how a new generation can navigate its uncertainties and questions.

Marriage rates may be on the decline, but that doesn’t mean marriage is disappearing from society. In fact, as modern relationship norms and structures continue to evolve, the public discourse about marriage has never been louder—or more conflicted. Divorce rates, the appeal of cohabitation, seemingly infinite options for future partners, the patriarchal roots of marriage and gender roles, and economic uncertainty are just a few factors that leave a new generation of single and dating adults wondering. What does marriage even look like now? Why do people still do it? And, most importantly, is it “for me”?

With conversational wit and compassion, bestselling author Allison Raskin draws on new research, interviews with licensed experts, and the stories of real-life couples to break down the many pieces of today’s “marriage conversation”—and to make the leap of faith a little less scary for Gen Z and millennial adults like herself. What emerges is a thoughtful investigation into our cultural assumptions about commitment, compatibility, divorce, meaningful partnership, the future of marriage—and what it really means to join your bank accounts.

Allison Knocks Kills It Again!

I love everything Allison Raskin does, but this was an excellent examination of love, relationship, and commitment that I really needed to hear (especially as I enter a new relationship and also my 30s). Allison’s voice has truly become such a comfort to me. I am certain this will be a book I come back to again.

History of marriage

It’s more a book about the history of marriage rather than a self help! This is exactly what I was looking for.

Also, we love an inclusive queen. Allison always does a great job at being inclusive.

Accessible and Enjoyable take on modern marriage

I DO (I THINK) written and narrated by Allison Raskin is an accessible approach to the history, psychology, and more of modern marriage. As an avid fan of Allison’s podcast, JBU, I knew the audiobook format was for me, even if this isn’t a topic I typically would pick up a book about. Allison delivers a relatable and honest approach, reflecting on her own experiences, and interviewing relationship experts and real world couples.

This book is probably for millennials and millennials only

I was excited about the premise of this book. However how it was described and how it was in reality were quite different. The reality is it does offer some insights from professionals which are great but most of it is from a younger (newly-ish) married person - often specifically about her marriage which if you don’t have a special connection to her might not prove to offer deep marital insights. It also offers quite a few tips that would be useful to younger people but to others out of her age group perhaps not as much. This could very well appeal to those in her age bracket but those - for better or worse - beyond her place in life it is less valuable. I would say give her another 10 - 15 years and a ton of research and this could be amazing.
