Resumen del Editor

A secluded mountain lodge. The perfect getaway. So remote no one will ever find you.

The promise of a luxury vacation at a secluded wilderness spa has brought together eight lucky guests. But nothing is what they were led to believe. As a fierce storm barrels down and all contact with the outside is cut off, the guests fear that it’s not a getaway. It’s a trap.

Each one has a secret. Each one has something to hide. And now, as darkness closes in, they all have something to fear - including one another.

Alerted to the vanished party of strangers, homicide cop Mason Deniaud and search and rescue expert Callie Sutton must brave the brutal elements of the mountains to find them. But even Mason and Callie have no idea how precious time is. Because the clock is ticking, and one by one, the guests of Forest Shadow Lodge are being hunted. For them, surviving becomes part of a diabolical game.

Pretty good

I enjoyed this book. Although, it dragged on a bit. The story could have moved a bit faster.

Hard to listen to.

Good story. Hard to listen to. Reader reads much to slow. Word pronunciation is strange.

A Woman Scorned

Overall, pretty good story. Suspenseful, gory, creative. Obvious though who the killer was and where it mostly stemmed from.A bit hard keeping track of things in the beginning, but you get the hang of things, who’s who,the why’s and the where’s.The story was entertaining.

Always listen to the sample before buying

So, the story was great. Every time the narrator pronounced been as bean, I lost the story for a moment. And again as a-gān, against as a-gānst. Even when voicing a child’s words. Will never purchase a book narrated Susan Hanfield. Will ALWAYS listen to a sample before purchasing from now on.

Good story

The reader’s pronunciation of the word again is both annoying and distracting to the listener.

Can't take it anymore

2 hours in and I give up. The narrator makes it difficult to continue. Her breathy voice and pronunciation of been as bean and again as ahgain is awful and the words are used over and over again. I don't even know what the story is about because I can't get past the awful narration.

Not bad.

The Narrator:

Hanfield did excellent voices- even the male ones. I find that a lot of female narrators make the mistake of trying to deepen their own voices instead of focusing on a male voice cadence. Hanfield didn't do this, instead she got the men and women characters exactly right- even managing to make them distinct.

My issue with Hanfield's narration is that when she's not voicing dialogue (or if the dialogue consists of a lot of exposition) she develops a sing-song, rhythmic tone. It sounds like someone giving a power point presentation they've given a million times before. It made a good portion of the book easy to lose track of. I found my mind wandering and having to go back and rewind to find out what happened, which of course threw me out of the story.

The Story:
I'm having a hard time deciding how I feel about this book. Because I know Christie's "And Then There Were None" very well, I knew what to expect. Fortunately, White decided to add the characters of the detectives tasked with finding and investigating the murders to her book- this was clever and a very satisfying way to tell the tale.

But tiny irritations throughout the story kept me from thoroughly enjoying myself. I won't bother writing out a list, but I will say I had trouble seeing the lead detective as a realistic person. It's often hard for male authors to write female characters, and visa-versa. I think this might have been one of those times. He didn't read as "real" to me as the female characters in the story. (Note: if it matters to you to know, I'm a woman)

NOT a romantic suspense

1. Definitely not a romantic suspense.
2. Stick it out because it’s worth it. I had to restart this 3 times because I couldn’t follow the story in the beginning. The first few chapters introduces like 11 characters and all with the same narrator, so it took me several tries to be able to follow along. Once I was able to follow it it was SO GOOD. I will say that my reasons for reading this one is because it was listed under romance, and this book definitely lacks that, but it’s still a great suspenseful mystery. Overall a great book, but I wasn’t crazy about the narrator.

bin and əˈɡenst

I enjoyed the story and the tie-in to Agatha Christie, who is one of my favorite authors. The story mystery was pretty apparent after deaths two and three, however, it was still a good, light read. The narration, however, was AWFUL. The constant mispronunciation of been, again and against was so grating that it actually detracted from the story. Fortunately, this book arrived as a Kindle Unlimited for me, so I was able to read most of it on my Kindle and was spared the horrible narration.
