Resumen del Editor

Searching for a new home....

The Galahad, a faster-than-light spacecraft, carries 50 scientists and engineers on a mission to prepare Kepler 452b, Earth's nearest habitable neighbor at 1400 light years away. With Earth no longer habitable and the Mars colony slowly failing, they are humanity's best hope.

After 10 years in a failed cryogenic bed - body asleep, mind awake - William Chanokh's torture comes to an end as the fog clears, the hatch opens, and his friend and fellow hacker, Tom, greets him...by stabbing a screwdriver into his heart. This is the first time William dies.

It is not the last.

When he wakes from death, William discovers that all but one crew member - Capria Dixon - is either dead at Tom's hands, or has escaped to the surface of Kepler 452b. This dire situation is made worse when Tom attacks again - and is killed. Driven mad by a rare reaction to extended cryo-sleep, Tom hacked the Galahad's navigation system and locked the ship on a faster-than-light journey through the universe, destination: nowhere. Ever.

Mysteriously immortal, William is taken on a journey with no end, where he encounters solitary desperation, strange and violent lifeforms, a forbidden love, and the nature of reality itself.

...he discovers the infinite.

Jeremy Robinson, the master of fast-paced and highly original stories seamlessly blending elements of horror, science fiction, and thrillers, tackles his most ambitious subject matter to date: reality itself. An amalgam of the works of J.J. Abrams and Ridley Scott, Infinite is a bold science fiction novel exploring the vastness of space and a man's desire to exist, find love, and alter the course of his life.

I really liked this book. If you like “the matrix” or “off to be the wizard”, or “we are legion (we are Bob)” check this one out

Not perfect but pretty dang good. I was hooked and binge listened until it was over. Lol. I like stories that touch on how people act when they’re stranded by themselves and often wonder how I’d react in similar situations. This book took a unique path, as our protagonist had some unique circumstances and I think I might have taken a similar path in the same situation. Hard to say, but it was quite entertaining to read about Will’s adventure. The guy reading it did a fantastic job.

Not my favorite

The narrator does a great job and makes this pleasant to listen to. Honestly I thought the story was mediocre and the characters lacked depth. The book spent a lot of time explaining future technology and the love plot was a bit of a male teenage fantasy. I still finished it, though so there’s something to the premise.

The Cotton Candy of Sci-Fi

Overall, this novel isn’t terrible. But it’s rather long and overblown considering how the narrative ends. The protagonist goes through numerous trials, dipping his toe into one high concept science fiction element after another. No one concept is explored in depth, almost like being rushed from one museum exhibit to another, wishing you could spend another moment or two with a strange and fantastic idea.

I’m not trying to spoil this book, but if you’d like something that I would consider better and following the same basic overall theme, read/listen to Ubik by Phillip K. Dick.

Hope this helps you make your decision.

Excellent book overall he just took a little too far for me.

The Book had me than...(no spoiler) just got a little over-the-top. Enjoyed the reader as always and found myself sort of in can’t put it down mode which usually tells me I’m on to a great book. Give it a try you be the judge it’s worth the credit.

Too many unbelievable lieces

There were aspects of this that I enjoyed, but too many things pulled me out if the story because just could not believe them. They irritated me and it would take awhile to get back to enjoying the story. The rationalizations for some were logically consistent, but many just seemed like excuses. The initial dramatic crisis just never seemed realistic, and other things were just too fantastic even if “explained” later. Still there were long periods of story telling that were quite enjoyable and the narrator is quite good.
The philosophizing was pretty basic but reasonable. The whole question of reality virtual reality and AI Was intriguing but felt forced into these unbelievable scenarios

Infinity ... how do you define it?

I am not sure what I expected. It was different than my usual military sci-fi or space-opera type of science fiction entertainment. It is also much different than my forays into mysteries and romances I take to temporarily leave the sci-fi world. Science and religion have been trying to explain infinity and will continue to do so until our deaths (physically or spiritually). Jeremy Robinson gives us several trips down several possible paths using science fiction as the vehicle. It is a fun trip and I would highly recommend it.

Epic

The pace of the story is just right, with excellent direction and creativity. As usual, narration was rock solid. Definitely a thought provoking storyline with elements of religion, science, personal discovery, and personal choice.

Hang in there!

I really enjoyed the book for the first few hours and then things got very complicated. At a certain point I wondered if the author even knew where the plot was going. Then the book blows your mind with a rude awakening. The end left me contemplating ideas I had never considered. Fantastic writing!

Loved it.

some of the concepts toward the end of the book made me think about holographic universe theory. that's Cutting Edge right now and I'd like to see more sci-fi about it.
