Certain phrases seem to creep into our vocabulary without us hardly even noticing. Before we know it, everyone’s saying it, and it becomes a regular part of how we respond to situations on the job or at home. It’s time to let go of “it is what it is.” It’s time to embrace a new mindset: It is what you make it.
This all-too-common phrase has no place in the lexicon of people who rely on intellectual, emotional, and creative power. It says “we can’t” when success demands that people instead ask “how can we?” The difference is decisive. It Is What You Make It is for every person who has ever said “It is what it is” without recognizing that you are limiting yourself by accepting old beliefs. If you want to be a certain way, be that way. If you like to live a certain life, live that life. The reality is that we all have indefinite potential. You must believe you can change and, most importantly, believe you are worth it.
You are the editor of your own life story. This book will help you write it in a meaningful, empowering, and authentic way. It is about what you can do for your happiness and living a life of meaning regardless of what the world throws in your path. Don’t let anyone else hold the pen when writing your life story. It is what you make it! Nothing happens to you; it happens for you.
