Resumen del Editor

Rebecca will have to take a page from her own book to keep the dashing Rafe Danvers from spoiling her success.

But how does one play hard-to-get with a man one cannot resist?

Rebecca Tate never intended to cause a revolution with her notoriously popular Miss Darby novels, merely to earn enough to support herself and her ailing uncle. But now it seems every eligible debutante in London is emulating her spunky heroine and refusing to marry...ever! Still, Rebecca's enjoying her newfound success as Miss Darby's anonymous creator, and she's not about to let anyone interfere - not even the rakishly appealing Raphael Danvers.

Having survived the perils of war and espionage, Rafe is less than thrilled by a disgruntled society matron's wish that he unmask the unknown author and halt the scandalous scribblings. The assignment becomes more attractive, however, when the trail leads to the enticing Miss Tate. Suddenly the dashing adventurer can't get enough of the charming troublemaker - and her resorting to some rather Darbyesque trickery to distract him serves only to intensify his desire. But will a rogue's determined pursuit result in a happy romantic ending...or lead them both into a dangerous intrigue?

The entire series is excellent

Really well written with humor, intriguing plots and well developed characters. Elizabeth Boyle elevates the sometimes predictable genre into a truly enjoyable read. The Narrator Susan Duerden is fabulous.

Couldn't finish the book

I have listened to 10 chapters and I just can't finish this book. Confusing story with no substance. I liked Book 1 of this series, so I am really disappointed.

Well, I guess I finished it...

Finally, Rafe has his story, and I wanted him to find his love. It breaks my heart this doesn't do him justice. It's a shame his reputation regarding the war is not a good one. Seems par for the course though, considering his brothers. It's very understandable why.
The story was a bit off, time-wise. For such a cynic, and someone so harden, Rebecca broke through his walls in two or three days?? One issue I had throughout the book was regarding the promise Rafe gave Lady Finch regarding her son, Jemmy. That was dropped practically after an hour or so. I was hoping something would happen with him. I kept waiting and hoping. Nothing but a broken/ignored promise. His young assistant, Cochran was supposed to be taken care of by Rafe, but that didn't seem important enough in the end.
The other brothers and Temple make their appearances as does Temple and Diana, the Goddess.
I love the Uncle. Love, love him!!
This could be a stand alone because there isn't much of a family connection, unlike the previous books.
It would have been awesome if he took over for Pim. Wishful thinking, but could have been funny.
I'd skip it.
The broken/ignored promise with Jemmy still bothers me so much.

No more E.B. books for me

The plot was ok. It felt like there wasn't much of a thought out direction., the book just sort of rambles all over the place. My biggest complaint is its the same darn book, rewritten over and over. The same dialog, same carch phrases and yet again the FMC. Most egregious is the MMC never realizes he is in love until they are having sex or just had sex. REALLY? It's insulting to, men to readers, to romance itself to ALWAYS define true love as a result of "great" sex and never the other way around. Seriously questioning what is wrong with these characters.
From book to book its the same woman, same personality, same hair color, always a version of red, even the same build. I didn't like her 5 books ago and I sure don't like her in this story at all. Rebecca isnt sassy, or witty she's just selfish, rude and down right mean. I have NO idea why a man like Raphael would fall for this unscrupulous, self-centered lying witch. Even though the epilog she proves she has no integrity. Sure Raph would be with someone who breaks the rules but only in order to do what's right. Rebecca only does what is right for her. This mean-girl unveiled beauty creature is just regurgitated book to book. it's never been enjoyable to watch her win the great guy and all the great things that come with him and now faced with the 5th version of this girl, it's just boring too.
