Acerca de esta escucha

Cardinal Woolsey's Yarn Shop has been chosen to appear on TV. Great publicity! Until a murder stops the cameras...

Celebrity knitting designer Teddy Lamont is coming to Cardinal Woolsey's knitting and yarn shop in Oxford to run a special class that will be televised.

Lucy Swift can't wait to host the popular, flamboyant designer and boost her business. But from the first day things go wrong. One student is nothing but trouble on and off camera. When she winds up dead, the publicity Lucy was hoping for turns out to be the wrong kind.

Lucy and her band of undead amateur sleuths have to figure out who the killer is before her business winds up dead.

My Go To Read

I love knitting & before the pandemic was a member of a fiber guild. Have really missed those meetings so when I went looking for a new read "The Vampire Knitting Club" really caught my attention. combines my love of the craft w my love of the mythical.

Pandemic & family stress just melt away when I can sit down to read about Lucy & the knitters - all of them including the vampires. The setting in an English college town is perfect.
Thanks Nancy Warren!

Agatha Christie Style with Supernatural Flair

These stories of Lucy Swift her yarn shop Cardinal Woolsey’s and her vampire knitting club are such a pleasure to listen to. For those that always enjoyed Agatha Christie it has that wonderfully classic feel, the introduction of the cast of characters that soon become suspects for the eventual murder that occurs within the shop. There is even the standard gathering of suspects and monologue reveal at the end. I really enjoyed it. The characters feel rich and alive, the setting of the shops in the town are engaging, and the mystery a delight to follow. The light romance threaded throughout this series is an enjoyable compliment to the mystery without being distracting or forced. For those that enjoy paranormal cozy mysteries this really feels like a standard setter. The narration by Sarah continues to be top notch and draws the listener in and Nancy’s ability to craft ongoing stories in this universe is quite enjoyable. I look forward to the next installment and highly recommend this series.

A knitting celebrity at Cardinal Wolsey’s Yarn Shop.

A great business Boone for Lucy turns into another murder investigation. With a table full of knitting suspects, this one is a stumper. A great whodunnit. Everyone had motive.

Where is the progression?

Lace and Lies is book 7 of the Vampire Knitting Club series. In this book, there is another murder inside Lucy's knitting shop, Cardinal Woolsey's. We see a little more of Lucy learning witchcraft. The romance is the slowest moving thing ever but she and Rafe are still dancing around each other. It feels like the overall story isn't progressing with Lucy, her skills, her character development, her relationships, etc. It seems like these are all just a collection of stories that can pretty much be read as standalone.

I have been binging this series and haven’t been reviewing them in between each book. Some overall observations from the series so far (I have finished through book 8.5 and am partway through book 9) are that the stories are always cute and good for a short escape. I really enjoy the characters and have a vested interest in them. Something I have noticed, though, is that there isn’t continuity between books and the books really could have benefited from a proofreader. For example, in book 1, Lucy is 27 but in book 6, she has her 26th birthday. In one of the books, Rafe is at least 600 years old, but in the next book, he is only 500 years old. Occasionally there is an incorrect name used but I always know what was meant so it doesn’t confuse me or make it so that I can’t continue. Another thing that is missing, at least to the point I am at now, is any real information about the vampires. We don’t get to know anything about their abilities, only that they are vampires who feed via a blood bank. Even with the inconsistencies, I am hooked on the series and enjoy these easy-going, clean, cozy mysteries. It is a nice palette cleanser from the smutty stuff I typically enjoy.

The narrator is the same throughout the series and she does a great job.

Another Fun Cozy Mystery

I think some characters should be killed off and the victim in this story is one of those 😝 Heh. This was another fun romp through Oxford. I’m glad to see Lucy gaining confidence in her knitting 🧶❤️
