The thoughts and memories of famed magic wielder Tolen the Wise inhabit young wizard Markus’s head. They teach and guide him in his development as a Master Wizard. He leaves school and apprentices with a new Master Wizard to increase his powers. He learns from each province's surrounding provinces, honing his sorcery skills. Along the way, he first stops at The Port of Pearls and learns about court politics. Not to mention, he basks in the daily perils of life in the countryside. Everything is perfect. Or so it seems.
Young, naïve, and full of brimming potential, he indulges in the glory of his fame. But although Markus is wiser than most 17-year-olds, he still lacks wisdom. Therefore, he succumbs to his emotions and powers.
When a dragon attacks the port city, his life suddenly turns dark. And now, he becomes the target of ridicule from an entire nation. They blame him for the savage attack on their countryside.
Markus, now the first known dragon in over a thousand years, is riddled with the guilt of possibly being a mass murderer, along with the question that haunts his thoughts: are there other dragons in Gallenor? Together with his comrades, he quests to find out who is behind this plot, faced with the painful truth that he must go on this journey without the assistance of his Master and best friend.

Good listen but no ending
I'm sure the previous books would have helped greatly in this book, but overall, it's pretty well developed. Characters are interesting & you can start to visualize them as the story progresses. Narration was wonderful. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars is there really isn't an end. It feels like it should be part of a much larger book. Still, well worth the listen!

wonderful Narration and Story
