Resumen del Editor

Seventeen-year-old Krista must quickly figure out how she's going to survive in the zombie-destroyed world.

The one advantage humans have is that the zombies hate humid environments, so they're migrating west to escape its deteriorating effects. The survivors plan to construct a wall at North Platte to keep the undead out, and Krista has come to Nebraska to start a new life.

Zombies aren't the only creatures she has to be cautious of - the other survivors have a dark side. Krista must fight not only to live but also to defend everything she holds dear - her country, her freedom, and ultimately, those she loves.

Join Krista in her quest to survive in this thrilling apocalyptic novel by Pembroke Sinclair.

Good!

This story is about after the apocalypse happens. Krista tells the story of how it happened and affected her family. She lost both parents and soon goes to Florida, a place she thinks will be safe. Soon she finds out its not paradise and people have aready began moving there to get away from the zombies. She leaves there when a family member she barely knows finds her and life gets a bit more hectic and frightening.

She finds her relative, an uncle I think is dark and controlling but there is a light amongst it all in soldiers from the west. There are parts of this story that are horrifying, parts that are sad and parts that are inspiring. I absolutely enjoyed this story and admire Krista for standing strong and even though filled with fear and trepidation at times manages to keep a straight mind and make good decisions. She's a strong character and string young woman.

No one really knows what life would be like if there was a zombie apocalpyse. This author I think has a realistic approach to what might or could happen. It's a really great story. No doubt I'll listen again in the future.

Good start. But then drags on.

What was most disappointing about Pembroke Sinclair’s story?

The book had a very good start. One of the positive points of this book is that it provides the story of how the calamity started. But later on in the book when we are following Krista's survival story, the story loses all steam and mostly drags on n on. Just because the zombies hate humid environments, we the listeners are too treated to a very dry and bland story. There isn't much excitement or awesome action. Most of it is the usual fare.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not really. This is no "The Road".

Any additional comments?

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

the book is good but...

the storyline mabey good but I was feeling like the author drugs a lot of chapters on and on I want to say it was the best book I read but it wasn't bad it was quite enjoyable but it's not a wow book I would call it a nice book because I did like the storyline and if the author didn't drug the chapters so much maybe I would have enjoyed it more but overall I did gave this book 4 stars because I did feel the story

The further along, the better I liked it

I really like zombie stories that tell the beginning of the outbreak. This one does! A young teen girl trying to survive after the death of both parents. I think the narrator sounded like a young teen girl. I received this for free for an honest review.

A little dry

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Mmmm, while I liked the story it fell a little flat and dry. It kinda of felt like a huge run on sentence. I would have liked more emotion and detail.

Very Good Debut

This story starts out with everything I typically enjoy about the zombie genre, the outbreak (with this being told as a flashback). The confusion, the denial, the stupidity, it’s all there.

The story progresses and adds some ideas I haven’t yet read in the genre, specifically regarding fortifications. It’s clever. When the true conflict arrives, it is inevitably the living who make the apocalypse such a Hell.

Cheyenne Barrett has a very young sounding voice. That makes her perfect for narrating a 15-year-old girl who only ages to 19. Her diction and narrating skills are pretty honed for someone making her Audible debut. She does
an impressive job of storytelling.

Good Character Building But It Gets Lost In...

Good Character Building But It Gets Lost In Translation

Life After the Undead was an interesting take on this genre. It is taken from the viewpoint of a young teenage girl who watches her family parish in the zombie apocalypse. You aren’t taken through this dangerous new world on the back of a Special Forces team from Fort Bragg.

This world is seen through the eyes of an innocent young girl coming to grips with her family being lost, moving from different locations within the US and eventually meeting up with distant relatives. Overall, a good storyline with some good character development.

The downside to this is that while the story is told from a teenage girl’s point of view the writing is adult. The main character, when speaking, talks as if she is a much older adult. Unfortunately, the writing of her parts doesn’t match the character and at times it makes for a hard listen as you hear the Cheyenne speak her lines yet you can’t really envision the character.

Life After The Undead seems to get lost in translation.
