Acerca de esta escucha
From the creators of the number one podcast Limetown, an explosive prequel about a teenager who learns of a mysterious research facility where over 300 people have disappeared - including her uncle - with clues that become the key to discovering the secrets of this strange town.
On a seemingly ordinary day, 17-year-old Lia Haddock hears news that will change her life forever: 300 men, women, and children living at a research facility in Limetown, Tennessee, have disappeared without a trace. Among the missing is Emile Haddock, Lia’s uncle.
What happened to the people of Limetown? It’s all anyone can talk about. Except Lia’s parents, who refuse to discuss what might have happened there. They refuse, even, to discuss anything to do with Emile.
As a student journalist, Lia begins an investigation that will take her far from her home, discovering clues about Emile’s past that lead to a shocking secret - one with unimaginable implications not only for the people of Limetown, but for Lia and her family. The only problem is...she’s not the only one looking for answers.
Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie are first-rate storytellers in every medium. Critics called their podcast Limetown “creepy and otherworldly” (The New York Times) and “endlessly fun” (Vox), and their novel goes back to where it all began. Working with Cote Smith, a PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize finalist, they’ve crafted an exhilarating mystery that asks big questions about what we owe to our families and what we owe to ourselves, about loss, discovery, and growth. Threaded throughout is Emile’s story - told here for the first time ever.

Historia
Rabbits is a mysterious alternate reality game so vast it uses the entire world as its canvas. Since the game started in 1959, 10 iterations have appeared and nine winners have been declared. The identities of these winners are unknown. So is their reward, which is whispered to be NSA or CIA recruitment, vast wealth, immortality, or perhaps even the key to the secrets of the universe itself. But the deeper you get, the more dangerous the game becomes. Players have died in the past - and the body count is rising. And now the 11th round is about to begin.

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

House of Wisdom, a massive exploration vessel, had been abandoned by the government of Earth a decade earlier, when a deadly virus broke out and killed everyone on board in a matter of hours. Alma Katsu calls My Heart Is a Chainsaw “a homage to slasher films that also manages to defy and transcend genre.” On the surface is a story of murder in small-town America. But beneath is its beating heart: a biting critique of American colonialism, Indigenous displacement, and gentrification, and a heartbreaking portrait of a broken young girl who uses horror movies to cope with the horror of her own life.

Award-winning poet Marisa de los Santos crafts an irresistibly touching debut novel. Love Walked In is a contemporary tale, steeped in nostalgic, cinematic charm, of love in all its forms. Unapologetically idealistic about love, Cornelia Brown appears to catch the break of a lifetime when the dashing Martin Grace, her own personal Cary Grant, comes strolling into her life. But it is Martin's connection to 11-year-old Clare Hobbes that touches Cornelia's heart in ways she never imagined.

Limetown... A good lead in to the Podcast
I just finished the Limetown Podcast and wanted more, without having to watch Jessica Beal butcher it.
The performance was Excellent on the Emile chapters and was lack luster on the Lia chapters. I found Candace to lack enthusiasm for her part of Lia and her chapters. Made me wish that Jacques had read the entire book or at least got someone else to read Lia's chapters.
The story over all was on par with what I expected it to be and lead in to the podcast very well.

ehhhhhh
The story is good on its own, enjoyable even. Given the larger context of the Limetown world it misses the mark though. It retcons major plot points, and is generally a mess.

I cannot with the the narrator.
I agree with a lot of the other reviews. I usually take the reviews with a grain of salt, but omg this story is dull in comparison to the podcast. I'm actually not even done with it. I'm at a point where I have to just finish but the narration is also terrible. I don't necessarily know if it's the fault of the narrator or the story. Every time the narrator reads "so and so said" she has this weird inflection that is soooo irritating. I'm very sad that this story didn't live up to the podcast.

wonderful
don't let the review scare you away. I honestly was not even going to listen to it I read the reviews and it was half and half. but there was a sale so I bought and I do regret it. I completely could not remember the podcast but I am glad I didn't go back and listen to it first. I enjoy this audible very much.

Average Prequel but a Jumbled Mess
The story acts as a prequel to the podcast (clearly) and jumps between two perspectives: Emile (the man from the end of the podcast) and Lia as a young adult. The story, for the most part, is terribly boring when in Lia's point of view. Emile, on the other hand, has some unique moments in regards to the revelations of his adolescent misadventures, but overall it just does more to create the jumbled mess that is this book. The story drags on, plot moments take forever to unravel, and the revelations of certain character motivations are just not as exciting as the actual podcast. Also, the ending does NOT make any sense when you take into consideration where the story takes place in the podcast. If you are a hardcore fan, sure, listen to it, but otherwise you really do not need to read this to get the big picture.
Audible version does not have the same quality as the podcast in case you are wondering as well.
Overall, AVERAGE at best.

Gorgeous and thrilling book.
I loved the podcast and think the book acts as a great prequel. Lovely backstory that is captivating but still has mystery to it. I can't wait to listen to season 2 of the podcast.

I loved this book
I have been a fan of the Limetown podcast since it first aired a few years ago, and I was so excited to see that it's back this year with the wonderful addition of a novel. The backstory provided by this novel is excellent -- I was completely gripped by it and found myself finding excuses to keep listening. I think it might be a bit odd as a stand alone, but as a companion to the podcast it is terrific.

Not for everyone
This book broadens the world of the podcast. It gives you the backstory of Leah and Emile. Considering that the creators are film students, I think they did pretty well as this is not their primary medium. However, it does take some time for the story to get going and neither character is very likeable. I'm actually surprised how cold they ended up making Leah. Overall, if you got hooked by the podcast and you want to know more about this world, go for it. If you haven't listened to it and you have no interest in podcasts/TV show when it comes out, I'd say skip it.
