Resumen del Editor

The Tales of Lugon are a collection of high fantasy stories set in the world of Lugon at various points in its history.

The saga A False Dawn follows the elf Vera from her brash and reckless decision after receiving a vision from the Sea as a young elf-maiden to dealing with the consequences of that decision, both for herself and others, as a mature elf-woman.

Truth Unearthed follows the immediate aftermath of that decision and its impact on three citizens of The Dawn and their loved ones:

  • Arun, born into the serf-like Yeomanry but declared "Gifted" and elevated to the Court, is obsessed with pre-Dawn history and seeks to find artifacts of that forgotten time as his graduate task.
  • Baran, a favored Son of the Court, who is Arun’s best friend, bodyguard, and roommate with lofty military ambitions.
  • Athaz, an aging, out-of-favor Warden pressed to serve the Son of Bälech because his family is held hostage.

All three are unaware of the collision course with their homeland Vera set them on, 12 years ago. Even Vera herself knows not the full consequence of her actions. But they are all about to learn.

Incredible Left Me Wanting More!

I have to say, this was a blast! Not only was the story really interesting but the swagger at which Aaron delivered was unrivaled. He had a voice for every character and it felt believable. Can't wait for the next book, keep it up!

Entry into the fantasy genre

Book:
Truth Unearthed was gifted to me here on audible. I have never read (or listened) to any fantasy before this book. I am hooked! Well, at least hooked to Lugon and her inhabitants. I was caught up in the adventure from the first chapter. Loved the world-building and character development. I can say, if you are not into fantasy or just getting started, Truth Unearthed did not disappointment. The teaser at the end will have you sending Eric emails asking when book two is coming!!

Narrator:
Aaron De Freitas does well in making each character distinct when speaking which makes the book flow easier. It had to be sped up by at least "1.25" due to narrated slowly. Due to Truth Unearthed having an introduction, the chapters were off by one the whole time, but not that bad of an issue. Example: When Aaron said Chapter 15, its actually chapter 14 in the book. Just a heads up.

Great story looking forward to the next book

It didn’t take long to get caught up into the characters plight and start to find a need to shear more. I listened over a few shorter trips and on more than one occasion I sat in the car in the driveway and had to force myself to stop listening and go in the house. I am mainly more interested in the story than the narrator but for fantasy the wrong narrator can harm the story. De Freitas did a great job letting the story shine through

Great book!

A friendship like a brotherhood, a pilgrimage through the wilderness, a dark secret revealed, magical divine forces, an age old power in pursuit, strange allies, horrifying evil, war!

What’s not to like?

Truth Unearthed is set in a rich classic-fantasy world. The characters in the book have a realism that goes deeper than most fiction. This was probably what I enjoyed the most about this book. The characters were deeply admirable. They were people I aspired to be like. Honestly I rarely find this in books. Maybe a book here and there has one character. But Sparks creates several characters that had a depth to them rarely seen in fiction - especially modern fiction.

The story was really very good, and the plot took me for some clever turns! I absolutely loved the ending!

I also have to say, I don’t think I’ve read a dedication so beautiful in any book ever.

I’ll be hunting for the release of this sequel!

The audio was great on this title as well. The narrator has a hint of James Earl Jones in his voice. The different characters were voiced uniquely and were very well done.
