Acerca de esta escucha

Elizabeth and Darcy have recently gotten married and are trying to live happily together, but they both long for one thing: a child. Elizabeth worries that Darcy is not showing interest in her as much due to her struggling to have a child. It doesn’t help matters that Jane, who is happily married to Bingley, seems to have a child almost every year. Lydia and Mr. Wickham are having their third child. Elizabeth fears that she may be the only sister not able to bear children. Darcy has invited his cousin Anne to visit them. Darcy and Anne get on well together, which sparks a fire of jealousy in Elizabeth.

Married to Darcy is a full-length clean and sweet romance novel that tells another Pride and Prejudice retelling between Darcy and Elizabeth.

Elizabeth’s sadness overwhelmed Pemberley

Elizabeth’s inability to conceive a child after 2 years of marriage overwhelms everything at Pemberley. Darcy is lost and doesn’t know what to do
This gives us look at the Darcy’s after marriage but does not paint the rest of family well. Jane is almost Nonexistent and Lydia is still selfish. I didn’t think they understood Elizabeth at all.
I thought the narrator had a hard time with the female voices it just seemed that way to me. I did enjoy the story.

I did not listen to Pride and Prejudice!

I have not listened nor watched Pride and Prejudice, so can not say how this compares to to P&P. But for a story all in its own, I really liked. It was a bit strange go start a book first starting about her "cycle", but it made a lot more sense as the story went on. Glad for the HEA. Neat story.

A failed attempt at making a sequel for a classic

Perhaps the next time I listen to the very beginning of a book and it is talking about a woman's monthly "cycles," I'll follow my instinct and stop listening. Writing a sequel to a beloved book is a difficult task. You need to be true to the characters, and you really need to know your subject matter, or else readers who loved the original will not be happy with your book. While I have no doubt the author of this book loved Pride and Prejudice, I personally found her story to be inconsistent with the original, particularly in her portrayal of the characters. Elizabeth becomes a depressed, baby hungry, needy, jealous woman, and Darcy just isn't right. Had the author written this book about characters I was unfamiliar with, I probably would have enjoyed it more, but even still, the book had one more rather large fault: it was boring.

The narrator gave a valiant attempt, but he was wrong for the book. His character accents were sloppy, and he was not very good at female characters. I suspect with a different book I may have enjoyed his reading more, but with a different narrator, I also may have enjoyed this book more.

I received a complimentary copy of this audio book. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Awful

The characters are not Jane Austen’s characters at all. The story is weak. The pronunciation of some words, like Lambton and chaise, were appalling and the phone British accent made me want to tear my ears off. Wouldn’t recommend it at all.
