Acerca de esta escucha

They slept for hundreds of years, dreaming of a new home in the Andromeda galaxy. When finally they awake, their dreams of peace are shattered. These colonists - turian, salarian, asari, human, and more - face an uncharted galaxy and threats beyond understanding.

The Nexus is the core from which the colonists will explore their new home. Yet even before the arks arrive, the massive space station sustains critical damage. The entire mission is placed in jeopardy, and security director Sloane Kelly must reassert order while racing to identify the nature of the threat that faces them.

If she fails, the Andromeda Initiative could crumble.

Andromeda

this is a great book to accompany the new Mass effect game. if you are new to Mass effect and it's lore somethings are going to be confusing. So I recommend doing some reading on the lore or better yet play the games. the narrator was great and the story was great. it shines a new light to some of the characters in the new game and makes them more understandable and relatable as people. Playing through the game some of the characters like Sloan Kelly ( forgive my spelling of her name) I thought where bad just to be bad but this book brings out the motives of the person and makes me consider my dialogue in the game more thoughtfully. TL;DR great book to accompany the new game not so much if you are new to the Mass effect universe.

Solid Story. Better appreciated after playing game

Would you consider the audio edition of Mass Effect™ Andromeda: Nexus Uprising to be better than the print version?

I prefer the audio book version to the print version for everything. Once I have listened I may purchase the print edition but I will always prefer listening.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Addison surprised me. Playing the game you know she is hard and cold for the most part. She is shown in a different light here that just helps me appreciate her as a character.

What does Fryda Wolff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I thought she did a fantastic job with this book. She brings all the accents to life and also does a good job of trying to mimic the alien speech. A good narrator can really just bring something to a book that you would not get reading it yourself and Fryda did that.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were a few surprising moments in the book but nothing particularly stood out and moved me. This could be due to me playing the game I kind of knew where some of the characters were going to end up. If you did not play the game you may have felt differently towards some of the events.

Any additional comments?

This was another sale book and I love Mass Effect so why not! Glad I did as it gave me some great insight into not only before the initiative but what happens prior to your arrival at the Nexus in the game. There are definitely 2 different ways of doing this book. I would recommend reading before you play the game. That way you go in not knowing how people make it out and you will probably be a bit more attached to the secondary characters. Then play the game and you see how everyone makes out. However if you read after playing the game it just adds more context to an already interesting universe and story.

Incredibly slow and boring book

Did anyone inform the author that mass effect is a action game not a city planning game . Holy crap this a boring book and apparently the narrator thought so too by the flat and monotone reading .

Poorly executed British accent.

The poorly executed british accent was too much. I quit after chapter 7. the story was ok......but it was hard to tell with the fake accent irritation.

I enjoyed this book.

This book was rather perilous for its characters, I think. I enjoyed watching Sloane navigate her way through the situations that arose. In the end, I think the rebels left and things can get back to normal.

Fryda Wolf did a really good job performing this story. I thoroughly enjoyed her narration.

love mass effect but cant stand this narrator..

i love this universe and the games but man Fryda Wolff is so monotone! she's so boring to listen too.. i wish they would've switched narrators after the first book.. or after her interview.. ugh there's no emotion in her reading! but besides that great books, super excited that they're included with the membership for free!

Mass Effect Andromeda Another Disappointment

Just like the video game Mass Effect Andromeda, Nexus Uprising brings readers back to the Mass Effect universe without the levels of intrigue presented in the first Mass Effect novel trilogy. The writing in Mass Effect Andromeda: Nexus Uprising is that of a childish writer relying on cuss words to make any sense of emotion; while never progressing the story to the levels on expects. In fact, the entire premise that this book Nexus Uprising will give insight into Andromeda before the video game falls short. Without spoiling the ending, the connections to the video game world end abruptly and with less connection than that found in a hidden terminal within the actual video game. I recommend this book only for die-hard Mass Effect fans that would like to complete their knowledge of the fanatic Mass Effect Universe. For all other readers, stay away. This novel is grudgingly slow, painfully vulgar, and utterly disappointing. With that said, if you manage to read all of Mass Effect Andromeda: Nexus Uprising, the sequel Mass Effect: Initiation brings N.K Jemisin and Mac Walters back to the Mass Effect universe for a compelling new stand alone story well worth the read.

huge "ME" fan!

I would've liked to hear multiple voice actors instead of the one (to break the monotony of hearing essentiallythe same voice), but she did an AMAZING job with the different voices she created for each character.

If you love ME:A this is a must read!

This novel added so much depth and story to the characters we’re introduced to in Mass Effect: Andromeda, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it! Great background for a great game!

Alright story, bit confusing

an alright story that's more of a companion to the game than its own thing. I wish there was more of a sign when switching viewpoints, especially since internal dialogue is all done with the voice of the narrator.
