Resumen del Editor

If you can’t have unity, at least have courage. Eli, Anna, and Rose Hoover make their third visit to Errus, a world coming apart at the seams, a place where mythological creatures are born out of natural calamities.

Nations at war, apocalyptic prophecies coming to pass, and once again the three sisters are forced to navigate it all in order to get home. Disastrously, however, this time they get separated.

Trapped on the wrong side of the Ever-War, Eli finds herself alone and in constant peril—dangerous creatures, rogue elements, and political machinations—lost in a city at war with itself.

Will she ever see her sisters again? Will she find the courage to prevent the renewal of ancient hostilities? Will she lose her head to Azhwana justice?

If she survives this, nothing will ever be the same. Welcome to Landembrost, a city being torn apart from the inside.

Committed To Its World-Building With Purpose

I've read all three books currently in this series. Hopefully without giving too much away, the time juxtaposition involved in the two universes of the series seemed problematic because familiar characters would "age out" if the series extended much further. It seemed the author would be writing himself into the corner of losing a lot of previous establishment thus having to repeat a good deal as re-establishment. However, there is a revelation in this third book that makes the time discrepancy absolutely necessary for its bombshell impact. A sense of, "Oh, so that's why!" enjoyably hits the audience with related impact. I admire the commitment to waiting three books in to bring across a payoff like that.

This is a worthwhile series -- evoking aspects of the Narnia series so vividly that it has to be intentional -- while at the same time being very 21st Century meta.
