Acerca de esta escucha

Dana Donahue might be Shane Logan’s cousin, but she’s nothing like him - she’s quite the opposite of him. Her thoughts focus on what money and people can do for her. She never approved of Shane joining the military and knows little about the world he has lived in for most of his life. All that will change when she has to ask him for a job after her father cuts her off.

Derek Stall lives on the streets by choice - not circumstance. Memories of what he did under order sometimes haunt him, other times give him the strength to move through one more day until he can finish the mission he started.

A chance meeting between Dana and Derek will lead to an unlikely friendship that might just save his life, but the drastic differences between them could be the dividing wedge that keeps them apart.

When Derek feels he has to leave Rise Again Warrior to complete his mission, he begins to realize that he could be leaving behind more than just a few friends. Could he be leaving behind the possibility of a healthy future before he finally accepts his past?

This series makes me appreciate our service members!

Talk about a gut check! Even though I’ve never lived a privileged life as the h in this book, I am guilty of sometimes not really seeing the homeless and being empathetic to whatever they may be experiencing.
I enjoyed book 1 but this story moved me. We take for granted the sacrifices made by our service members and their families for the freedoms that we enjoy. This book delves into this and gives us the POV of a rich heiress and that of a homeless vet, who is running from his demons. It is well developed and well written. This is a great series that I highly recommend…just keep a box of tissues at hand.
I voluntarily accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Absolutely wonderful

A deep, heartfelt addition to RAW. Derek is having problems with his guiltily feeling from an operation gone wrong. Dana, Shane's cousin, is dealt a hand of reality for her parents and told to get a job. I love Dana's attitude as her eyes open and her willingness to change. Great narration.

what a fabulous story

*Edit to Post**
I read this book when it was first released. I just listened to the audio book. It is better the second time around. I love the narration of Rich Clark.

Dana was a spoiled brat. In her 30s she had no job and she living off her Dad's fortune. Until he finally put a stop to it, he cut her off. Forced to get a job, she went to her cousin at RAW. Being the spoiled snab she was she thought she would get a cushy position. That was not the case at all.
Derek was a damaged homeless vet. The things he had done have tortured him mentally.
Derek and Dana met while spoiled Dana was arguing on the phine with her dad. The unlikely two became friends.
What an emotional journey you go on with these characters. Tissues are a must have. I thought book 1 was amazing. This 2nd is fantastic. You don't have to read book 1. However, I highly recommend you do.

Beautifully Written & Told🎧📚🎧Gripping & Heartfelt!

Stacy Eaton delivers another awesome novel in her “Rise Again Warrior” series, a series I am loving, not only are the stories and characters amazing but the books contain so much heart and brings out my patriotic pride and respect for those who served and sacrificed so much for our beloved country. I recommend starting with the first book in the series “Mission: Believe” it sets the foundation for the concept of “Rise Again Warrior” a non-profit organization and program to help returning soldiers acclimate back to civilian life. This book is Derek Stall and Dana Donahues story, Derek, a former Navy Seal, has not had the easiest of times, he deals with memories of a mission gone wrong and haunting guilt. He lives on the streets, surviving day by day. Dana Donahue is a spoiled, prima donna who lives off of her families’ wealth, she has no responsibilities, that is until her parents cut her off to teach her a lesson. She is on the phone with her father while sitting on a park bench trying to change his mind, Derek was asleep under the bench and heard the whole conversation. Two people living two very different lives meet and start talking, it was an eye opener for her but there was something about Derek that go to her, she just did not know it at the time. She goes to to see her cousin Shane Logan about a job and gets hired to work along side, Nate. This book is raw and real, the story is brilliantly plotted and I loved how it all plays out. I also loved how clueless Dana was at first and how much she grew as a person by the end. The same for Derek, with the help of others he learns to live again and see things in a different light, copes with his PTSD and survivor’s guilt. Stacy Eaton, thank you for another amazing novel, it is a story I can not praise or recommend enough.

🎧📚🎧And for the wonderful narration, Ryan Clark is the perfect narrator to bring Stacey Eaton’s characters and story to life. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures the character emotions and projects them into his performance. His portrayal of the characters is spot on as he truly grasps each of their personas and makes the role his own. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. I loved touching performance at the end too. Thank you for another awesome listen 🎧

A Great Second Book In The Series

Ms. Eaton has another winner here. This second book of the series shows someone finally realizing her life is more than just about her. Dana slowly changes both her attitude and her life. The right person came along at just the right moment. I didn't like her at first and even rolled my eyes when she opened her mouth. Derek is a man you would probably cross the street so you didn't have to walk by him. You would probably turn your nose up coming up with your own reason as to why he is as he is. Would you shake his hand? Would you talk to him? Would you even offer a helping hand?

This story may bring a tear to your eye as you listen to what Derek had to endure because of what he did for us. His story was as meaningful as Shane's. It was also just as inspirational. Our author shows that we need to help people just for the sake of lending a hand to a group that has a meaningful purpose. She also shows that you may not think you have any skills to help an organization but certain jobs you can learn as you go. It's also a great way to say thank you for everything some of us take for granted.

I was happy to see that Mr. Clark returned to narrate again for Ms. Eaton. He did a great job with the male characters and brought them all to life. He also made it very easy for me to picture every scene as it played out. He does an all right job with the women.

This was another book that I had no trouble getting lost in that had me forgetting what I was doing. Both the narrator and author have me impatiently waiting for book three in this series to come out. I know I could just buy the book and read it myself but I want the narrator to bring the author's words to life because there's no way that I can do that.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Great story line

This is Book 2 and these stories are great. They will open your eyes to the real life world of our Veterans who have served our country and come back to heart ache, loneliness, PTSD and homelessness. A must read/listen for all of America to appreciate all our "Warriors" do and have done for us to stay "The Land of the Free".

look beyond the surface can yield surprises

Clean contemporary romance with heart and real life. Dana and Shane are in for a meeting that neither will forget. Dana now cut off from the family money in bulk. She has to work for the first time in her life. This pampered princess was over thirty and never had a job of means. Shane a veteran with horrors in his mind that cannot be easily forgotten or forgiven. They both have to confront their life head on. Maybe it won't be so bad if they can find a way together.

I for the most part enjoy Ryan Clark and his narration except for the feminine aspect. As with the first installment I got lost in his voice and it was hard to keep up with which POV was being presented or should I say heard. I missed the feminine tones and pitches.

Excellent .. well writen book wonderful narration

I loved it, keeps you reading getting more interesting every chapter. So very detailed as to the training and mind set of those in the military that have been through so much. Great insite into the lives of so many now finding themselves homeless. A wonderful story line, with a love between the two most unlikely people keeping you on your toes hoping they will get together. The narration is perfect ,his voice was able to capture the personality of each character and the intensity of the story line. Very hard to stop listening once you start. Did I say.. I loved IT!

A wonderful, thought provoking story

While I had read this story in the ebook version and liked it, listening to it made me LOVE the story. The narrator made it come to life.
The story centers around Dana Donahue and Derek Stall.
Dana is a high society spoiled woman . When her father drastically cuts the money he gave her monthly, she finally realizes she needs a job.
Her cousin Shane Logan , a veteran who lost his legs while serving our country, is building a compound to help veterans returning to civilian life . He gives her a job that will change her life.
Derek Stall, a veteran that served overseas and is still is dealing with his demons, has become a homeless by choice.
A chance meeting in a park starts a friendship between Dana and Derek. A friendship that neither thought would become more. When he saves Dana’s life, he gets a chance to spend time at the RAW ( Rise Again Warrior) headquarters. But Derek still feels he needs to do penance for his hand in the death of his fellow soldiers.
But once again, fate interferes when Dana is in danger?
Will he be able to safe her? Will they get a chance at love?
Aside from an engaging storyline and interesting characters, what grabbed my attention was the theme.
While the brave men and women are willing to put themselves in danger to allow us at home to live in a free country, we forget that they need our support upon their return. Especially, because many suffer not only physical but also emotional and psychologically.
Kudos to the author for that reminder.
