Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

Let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. These ominous words, slashed from the pages of a book of Psalms, are the last threat that the darling of London society, Sir Edward Grey, receives from his killer. Before he can show them to Nicholas Brisbane, the private inquiry agent he has retained for his protection, Sir Edward collapses and dies at his London home, in the presence of his wife, Julia, and a roomful of dinner guests.

For many of its settlers, Quebec is a place of exile, so remote that an entire winter passes without a word from home. But to 12-year-old Cécile Auclair, the rock is home, where even the formidable Governor Frontenac entertains children in his palace and beavers lie beside the lambs in a Christmas créche.

The house was built in the Old Queen's time: built for an Elizabethan pirate who was knighted for the plunder he brought home. It survived many eras, many reigns: it saw the passing of Cromwell and the Civil War. It became rich with an Indian Nabob and poor with a 20th century innkeeper. It saw wars, and lovers, and death. Children were born there, both heirs and bastards. It had ghosts and legends and a history that grew stranger with every generation.

Much obvious research and work. The smallest details are carved out and displayed in a way to make you feel you are reading a non- fiction autobiography. I love all of Nancy Turner’s books.

I enjoyed it thoroughly. The characters were very rich and colorful. The details make the story come alive and I felt a part of the story. I love audio books but felt maybe my concentration was waning as I was not able to get into the books I ordered. I was considering leaving Audiobooks. Epic story
Loved the historical fiction peppered with factual characters of the era. Narrator did a great job. Quite lengthy, but kept me engaged.

A life well lived!
This was an amazing tale. I followed Resolute from a carefree child in Jamaica, as a slave in puritan America and a silent patriot in Boston. This story is a testament to the strength and power of early American women. I laughed and cried, laughed more and then ugly cried when I had to say goodbye. This was the best 25 hours I have ever listened to. Thank you Nancy, for another amazing character and a story that will stay with me forever.
