During a time of political and social unrest in Egypt, a god-like force, Nyarlathotep, emerges. He travels the land dazzling people with electricity and psychology. While witnesses of this god-like creature encourage others to see him, afterwards, people seem terrified. As the narrator recounts his experiences, he becomes disoriented. By the end of the story, the narrator and the other viewers of Nyarlathotep begin to lose touch with reality.

This is the recollection of a man facing the end of his life and the sweet refuge that sleep offers. The man desired to find the way into his dream land permanently - the latch that would allow him through the gate. He finds a yellowed papyrus that tells of conflicting experiences on the other side of the gate, some of wonderful things and other horrifying and terrible. Although not sure which to believe, his desire to cross through intensified. He then finds that the answer to his dilemma may lie with a certain drug.

Narration. Tone and timber were pleasing to my ear. Some voices in other books are hard to discern due to tinnitus.
The classical horror of Lovecraft is nice to hear and not just picture from reading g alone.

Classic HP Cthulu Myhthos story
Great story. Well written and gripping. Great piece of the Cthulu myth is. Well narrated. I love all of HP's work as well as the majority of the modern additions to the Mythos.

The Crawling Chaos
Almost typical Lovecraft, yet a bit more horrible. The protagonist battles against the blackness and chaos which is Nyarlathotep. Once the protagonist challenges Nyarlathotep at a lecture all sanity eludes the gathered crowd. Only I am alive to tell the tale......but the gargoyles are staring and . . . . .

Terrible narrator
While I'm an avid fan of HP Lovecraft, I feel that the narrator did not realize this was a horror story.

Terrible production
Horrible sound quality and lifeless reading. Stay away from this one at all costs. Plenty of other good lovecraft pieces out there on audible. Grab some of the mike vendeti ones.
