Love is Everything!

“Octoshi”
Author: James Agee Jr.
Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform (August 26, 2015)

Narrator: Heidi Allred
Audible.com Release: March 30th, 2016
Length: 8 minutes (Unabridged)

A modern tale of a young boy and his new friend, Octoshi, an octopus that will be someone’s dinner at his father’s sushi restaurant. Does the boy help his new friend and how will his father respond if the boy responds to his personal convictions? This is a heartwarming and well-crafted tale with a poignant and endearing message reminding the listener to “love everything”. The narrator, Heidi Allread, does a fantastic job in reading Octoshi. She provides a child-like wonderment while eschewing a cutesy and saccharine style, which is often the case for a children’s book. I recommend this title for all children, as well as, a gift for the adult needing a gentle reminder that love is everything.

A sweet, heartwarming short story

Disclaimer: I received a free copy in exchange of a honest review.

This was a sweet, heartwarming short story about a little kid that lives in a sushi shop. The shop has a big fish tank, and the kid does not like that they became food. One day, after meeting his first octopus--which is destined to become high quality food for an important client--he decides that he cannot longer let their friend become sushi. After all, his grandmother had teach him to love everything.

Simple short story of learning empathy

While the narration of this short story is rather neutral, it doesn't actually detract from the experience. The story, overall, is pretty neutral of emotion, itself.

This is a short tale of a child learning how they are going to look at and feel about other living things. Nice and relaxing and kinda sweet in the end.
