When a mysterious little free library (guarded by a large orange cat) appears overnight in the small town of Martinville, eleven-year-old Evan plucks two weathered books from its shelves, never suspecting that his life is about to change. The speed of this book, short chapters, takes some getting used to. But once you accept it,, the rhythm is quite beautiful. The story is not only immersive and heartwarming but educational as well. A tale to be remembered.

Great story and narrators
I was a member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium for many years. I knew about the sea otter surrogacy program but this story gave me greater insight into how this all started and how it evolved. The hard work and dedication of the staff have saved the lives of many of these precious animals. 💕
I’m anxious to share this story with my young grandson.
