Acerca de esta escucha

Gary Grossman, author of the wildly popular Executive series, returns with a high-octane thriller that digs into the history of the Earth to find the secrets people are willing to kill to keep concealed.

In the summer of 1601, Galileo Galilei made a startling discovery in the mountains of Eastern Italy that, if made public, could shatter faith in religion, bring down governments, and lead to worldwide turmoil. For more than 400 years, the secret has been guarded by a small group of incredibly powerful people, willing to do everything in their power to keep these discoveries from being made. But now, a university dig in Montana headed by paleontologists Quinn McCauley and Katrina Alpert threatens to expose the secret Galileo unearthed, the event that caused him to turn his study to the stars, and the hidden reason the scientist was convicted of heresy by the Inquisition.

McCauley and Alpert find themselves in a global game of cat-and-mouse, seeking answers for a mystery that has endured for centuries, hunted for what they might discover. Old Earth weighs age-old arguments between science and religion in a tense thriller that spans time and questions recorded history.

Typical Formulaic Thriller

Nothing new here. A little history, a little religion, some bad guys, scientific mumbo jumbo, a secret to discover. The problem with this novel is that it does not build enough suspense. Few plot twists, by the time the "secret" is revealed, it was expected, a little anticlimactic for me. The reader was very good.

Good but could have been great

The story was really good and it was a nice paced read. If it were not for all the f bombs it would have been great.

What the heck is it?

The book starts out ok. They lead you into the story, but dont let you know what the heck they found until the last 30 minutes of the book. It goes back and forth through 3 stories that are interwoven. Its an ok listen, but if you are in a hurry to know what the heck they found, you wont be happy.

Too many words for the content

I was tempted to abandon this book several times, and found it had put me to sleep several times while listening to it. I doubt I will seek any more books by this author, but if I do find myself with another, I hope it will be more engaging.

I figured this might be a bit like the Dan Brown novels (as referenced in this book), but the self-appointed "Protectors" who felt it was their sacred duty to destroy and murder to conceal the secrets they were protecting could not be vindicated no matter how the story twistedl

Fun and interesting

Good narration and action but not very plausible. I enjoyed the explanation of Young Earthers.

Good story

Liked the story, however the ending was a little weak. Some of the wording was a little pushed.

Loved it!

I loved this book and could barely stop listening. These types of action, thriller, and archeology books are awesome.

Excellent listen

I loved the interlacing of time, history, math, and action in the story that crosses millions of years.
