Wonderful, with Qualifications...

Lisa Jewell's writing is beautiful, her characters are so well developed I can see them clearly as I listen. Helen Duff's narration is a pleasure to listen to. The story contains themes of facing one's false beliefs and taking steps to break out of old patterns to become unstuck. I enjoyed those parts of the book, but there was also an element of One-Hit Wonder that was so-very sad, I didn't like the heavy melancholic feeling the book left me with.

Solid story. Excellent narration

Lisa Jewels books are a hit or miss for miss for me. But this was excellent. Sweet coming of age story well worth the time and credit IMO.

Charming beach read

Love Lisa Jewell but this was a little lighter, more Chick Lit, than others I have read. Still, I enjoyed it and would recommend it as a quick escape. Well narrated.

One of the best!

I loved loved loved the story and I love Lisa Jewell’s books I have listened to quite a few books now and this is definitely on the top of the list.
Very interesting storyline with twists and turns and unexpected ending!

Wonderful. Absolutely loved it.

Once you get into the story it is just lovely. I found myself smiling so much I felt I must look stupid to anyone that sees me! So heart-warming and really makes you think about the people you love and how you can effect the lives of others. This is the third book from this author I have read and I am just so delighted to have found her. Also, the narrator is just fabulous.

Enjoyable- but not the greatest of Lisa Jewell

This story was well thought out, with complex characters without a very complex story to tell. It is "fine" but not the best of Lisa Jewell's work. However, it was an enjoyable listen and Helen Duff's performance was well done. Seemed to drag on a bit by the end however. Overall, an acceptable purchase. Closers to a 3.5 star rating, were that possible.

Stick with this one - it’s wonderful!!

I almost stopped listening at the beginning but am very glad I stuck with it!! Interesting characters and intriguing plot line. Enjoy!

I loved it

I find it amazing as I look at other reviews of this same book, some people love it, some people hate it...and it's all the exact book...... I guess that's just different personalities of different people....but I find it ,,interesting.

Personally, I found this book to be a great one, I think the reader was absolutely great, you have to remember that you are listening to ONE person reading this book to you, she has amazingly different voices for each character in this story, each one totally different. you know, there are plenty of books out there that it makes not much difference if you read the book, or Listen to the book....this story is much more enjoyable to listen to, I think it adds tremendously to the characters. when you read the book, you are using your own minds voice, can't possibly bring these characters to life like Helen Duff did..A standing ovation to you Helen Duff!
Now about the story, the quick dust cover tells you what it's about, but this is so well written,,,,, let me put it to you this way.
A great drum solo ( i am a life long drummer ) but a great solo shouldn't and doesn't start out at 100 miles an hour, you start slow, lay down a solid foundation, and then keep building and building to a great conclusion !! and that's how this story is told, it just keeps building and building and gets stronger and stronger, ( i hope you sort of get that )

s how I enjoyed it, loved it. For me , it was one of those books where i hated that it ended, i wanted to know MORE, Keep going!!
