Resumen del Editor

I’ve spent a lifetime hiding my identity just to survive. I’ve concealed my true nature from our vampire overlords, including the one who’s captured my heart, and I’ve kept my friends at arm’s length to protect us both.

And now I stand to lose them all because of it.

With the final ancient stone up for grabs, I face my toughest challenge yet - seek help from friends and enemies alike, or go it alone like I always have.

A battle looms for control of the stones - a battle that might finally force me to embrace the full extent of my magic.

Magic so powerful that it just might kill me.

But if it comes down to a choice between my survival or the realm’s, I know which one I’ll choose.

The fate of the world depends on it.

Don't miss the exciting conclusion to the Midnight Empire: The Tower series.

Excellent story

Great story. Funny and smart. I loved it strong women characters. Hope there’s more in the future.

Felt cute…might delete.

I started this series as a suggested Kindle read. I ended up downloading the second book with an audible narration attached. I had to go back and start over multiple times because I couldn’t quite get past the accents the narrator was using. My brain kept Fritzing whenever the narrator used her oh vowels but at nearly every other time the main character spoke she spoke with a vaguely American accent. And then almost with a Baltimorean capital O.

Her best friend Tammy has the best accent of everybody and I found myself wishing that the main character had that accent and Kami had the weird one with the weird O vowel. As the series progressed the accent lessened but the strange pronunciation continued.

Regarding the storyline this is the kind of heroine that makes me face palm sometimes. I don’t want to spoil the ending for others but I don’t also understand the characters motivations. She has very strong ties to very strong people and she underestimate them to a point of insulting on the regular, and hide things for literally no reason from the other characters, and then when she does reveal some thing it’s just kind of glossed over like, no big deal. Also there are a few times when the character could access some newfound ability from one of the stoned in one part of the story but yet she cannot access another stones abilities in another part of the story. So there are some continuity issues for me as well.

There’s also the authors constant description of things outside of the city in the countryside where the whole world is supposed to be pitch black and the characters can all see except for a few times where it’s like she remembers that it’s supposed to be dark outside. I don’t know if the author has ever been to a place in the country where it’s dark and there’s no street lights but I certainly wouldn’t be able to see cottage door colors or things in a distance if it’s a literally pitch black outside. There’s no lanterns or fires or flashlights or magical torches or anything like that except for a couple of times when the main character glows or there’s some kind of murky light coming from some ambiguous place that allows her to see things. That was some thing that my brain kept snagging on while reading these stories.

Like other people have written and suggested between here and Kindle/Amazon, this feels more like a YA type of book especially in the scene in the final book where the very adult characters who are clearly not young at all, (I believe both are in their 30s?) are dancing around the subject of sex in such a strange and bizarrely chaste way it feels as if she’s talking about two virginal teenagers. It’s bizarre. I don’t know if I’m looking at a time period when women weren’t supposed to be with men outside of marriage yet they throw in modern references like Star Wars and Volkswagen vans “…finishing things yourself.“

Overall it’s not a bad series and I would definitely say this is potato chips for the brain, you’re not gonna feed your wisdom levels or gain anything more than an interesting little story out of it. The characters are cute and more could’ve been done with them but ultimately I probably won’t revisit these later like some other books I’ve read.

This series just keeps getting better!

I started off unsure if I could make it through the first book. I’m glad that I did!

Nice conclusion

I’m just sad it’s over. I love these characters and I’m going to miss them. Decent ending (not amazing) but I’m happy it was a pleasant outcome. Love discovering a good series and author

Definately PG-13 book

I actually listened to all 4 books in the series since I was in a slump. The adventures were cute, nothing memorable but enough to keep the listener engaged with the story. With a much power as the heroine had, I expected more. All the books have very sugary endings. The first 3 books created such an issue revolving around the existance of the heroine but her grand reveal in book 4 was just flat and underwhelming. Everything just wrapped up in such a sweet and gentle way. Everyone is a winner and gets a star type of ending. This should definately be categoried as a teen book, I am 99% sure this is something I would find in a middle school library.

I liked the narration enough. The variations were not as distinct as I would prefer givent that the series has a few different and recurring characters. I had to repeat some sections to figure out the character interactions.
