“Out Of Order… “ I Object… Sustained—Just a really good book, read and time!

Here is my male point of view, I cannot say I understand what a female deals with etc. but the human aspect within this collage of stories and the author’s raw and unfiltered expression of “Life,” (her life in snapshots) is a great ride and well expressed/written!

Sure a narcissist and anyone who thrived and felt alive and important during that period of history known as “Cancel Culture,” would die from an aneurism attempting to read this book; but that’s simply an unintended byproduct/gift to all of humankind !

Come on… humans are summing up to be a giant mistake in the evolution of Life… we are easily corrupted, self centered, and try as we might , we f@$k ourselves and everything else up that’s not just important but required… like social harmony, and the civilized and healthy living habits and order that’s synergistically fair and safe to be exposed to, balanced—including things like breathing!! Humans suck inherently as a species!!

There is a lot of good people, and we want to be good… but ask anyone what they think of other people in general… and the consensus is that other people suck!

Pardon my off topic digression!

I give her prologue 5 stars on its own! Then from the first sentence in the first chapter/story forward, onward, and backwards; she just slams her foot on the accelerator and let’s the sarcasm and cynicism flow way out of the lines and all wrapped around a myriad of her personal life experiences!

The author says that the book is a collection of short stories… I disagree… it’s a collage that all together is a single cohesive reflection of a fragmented yet satisfyingly complete story!

Spoiler alert:

The hidden gem inside this well crafted fortune cookie is the revisiting of her views on her parents after sharing her crazy and unfulfilled experiences growing up… dousing everything in gasoline and torching it, she then comes back around and shares what you don’t expect whatsoever: the realization that reflects how now in hindsight she understands who her parents were and why they seemingly failed to provide what she needed and/wanted… and hits it square!

They didn’t do what they did because they didn’t care about her or love her… they did the only thing they were capable of… out of love… she very cleverly slides in the notion that I’m only here attempting to expand and paraphrase…

People are limited to who they are and are only doing things they believe are best for someone they care about, in most situations… hypothetically… potentially!? Especially since no human is qualified to be a parent even with experience; and there is no manual that gets delivered along with the birth of a child…

And come on what adolescent doesn’t get mangled by a parent’s best intentions, which isn’t ironic though Alanis Morissette would say it is… “Don’t you think?” And all because they actually do care ! Don’t forget every adolescent is just as big a part of the problem/problems that they are encapsulated by—inherently!

This is a great book… it helps that she is and has experience as a stand-up comedian… which shines through… and she accepts who she is… which is the rarely but clearly stated outcome she discovers; but only after all the sad, crazy, and off center experiences she has, and the loss of her self and her self-esteem; which this book screams in your face with absolute confidence!

I loved it! But who gives a shit what I think… Me!
