Henry Miller's Nexus was censored fifty years ago, while Miller and his publishers fought for freedom of speech. Nexus II was never published, and looks at his first trip to Paris and Europe in 1928, a world on the edge of the Great Depression.

Paris 1928 collates these unpublished memoirs as Henry Miller wished, together with the censored pages from Nexus.

The pre-Cancerous Parisian Miller

In this rare Henry Miller book that I'd never heard of before, the just-arrived-inParis, ribald Miller introduces us to his wife, Mona, a fictional version of his wife, June, who waltzes him merrily and reluctantly around the continent. It's a typically mischievous Milleresque romp, culminating with a salacious and deliciously auditory climax of pornography, complete with insatiable nymphomaniacs, phalluses the size of fairy tales, manually-manipulated candles, over-reaching and willing anuses, and unlimited descriptions of sexual fluids. A must read for all fans of the famously-censored literary giant of sensuous fantasmagoria.

Not Cancer continued, but still Paris in the 20s..

If you're a huge fan of Tropic of Cancer like me, this unfortunately is not more of the same. More of a straight travel memoir. Enjoyable nonetheless, but if Cancer is five stars (I'd give it more if I could!), this is 3.

Narrator is too cherubic to read Miller

Love this book and the narrator is great, flawless....however he reads through the content too fast and he really sounds too cherubic to read Miller the way that I hear his literary voice in my mind. I palate the book by putting it on 80% speed.

Poor penmanship

Disjointed, poorly written, superficial and vulgar reflection on the his trip to France. Ending seems to be tugged from another work. Mentions Dostoevsky, Hamsun, Mann although himself lacks any depth or value.
