Resumen del Editor

Dr. M. Scott Peck has inspired millions by combining the deepest insights of psychiatry with those of religion. In this first of a three volume audio series based on his best-selling book People of the Lie, Dr. Peck once again integrates religious teaching with the science of psychology as he offers hope for healing one of society's most persistent failings -- human evil.

In his characteristic warm and accessible style, Dr. Peck explains that while the notion of evil has been present in religious thought for centuries, the concept has not been fully addressed by the psychiatric community. Dr. Peck links the two to show us how truly evil people are not necessarily criminals but those among us who appear as upstanding members of society. Using individual case studies to present vivid incidents of human evil, Dr. Peck describes how these "People of the Lie" hide behind the facade of normalcy as they continue to plague our lives.

A groundbreaking and compelling audio program that explores the essence of evil, People of the Lie sets us on a path toward understanding and coping with this age-old program.

A clear description what evil is!

A very important book for everyone. It describes in layman's terms how people become evil. Written by a psychiatrist who was an agnostic and became a Christian because of what he experienced in his practice!

A timeless work

I’ve been reading this author’s works from the time they were first published. I find now, at a later stage in my life, they are consistently accurate, important works on the subject of human nature. This work, addressing evil, is a “must read” for all who wish clarity regarding the numerous facets of human behavior.

Profound, relevant today

I read this book years ago and felt compelled to re-read it now when so many slip towards evil in our country.

Informative and Inciteful

Being a psychological study I expected it to be quite dry, and perhaps to a degree it is, but still I found it a very interesting subject. I wish it had been unabridged as I’m sure there was much that was glossed over for brevity, which was unfortunate.
The battle between good and evil is the primary tenant of Christian moral and a continuous struggle for those who follow Christ’s teachings. In our human nature we must choose to either struggle against evil or we will find ourselves without remorse and hopelessly lost in our sin.

Last 10 minutes sells the book

It was the last 10 minutes that made the book noteworthy. I just wish there was more of that. I will need to read the next installments. Thank you Scott Peck for bringing this “evil” out of the closet, where most people don’t see it for what it is - because it’s essential for everyone to recognize this

Too short

I thought the book was good, but too short. I was shocked and disappointed that it was finished. I guess I'll need to get vol. 2.

An important work and a excellent read

I found this to be a very important work, especially in this day of Wokeness. I think Woke thinking is evil.

Excellent

I first read this book when I was college student and took a course on Sin Satan and Evil . With all that is going on in this world today I felt I needed a review of what it is. Dr Peck give us well excellent account of how subtle evil can seep into our lives and that it is not alway glaring us in the face.

A brief intro to the lying liars in your life.

speed it up to get through the two case histories at the beginning... but they are essential to understanding the evil and it's lies that underlie the actions of the liars... and have no guilt.
