My name is Brenda Davis Chase, and I used to think fame was everything. That was until I realized fame isn’t truly love and all that shines isn’t a diamond. The little girls that idealized your image, now call you a whore to your face. The parents that patterned their children after the positive role you played, now use you as a cautionary tale. And you can forget about your family. Everyone that once looked up to you, now feels sorry for you. You can’t imagine the feeling of going from a role model, to a sympathetic figure. It’s worse than the ridicule. I’ve returned to the small town I grew up in to find myself and be reborn. The question is, “Is it too late?” The answer is, “I don’t know.” Please join me on my journey.
