Alongside examining the dissonance between fairy tales’ enchanting fantasy worlds and their inadvertent perpetuation of harmful stereotypes often taken for granted, cultural scholar Claire de Voyant provides discussion questions and writing prompts analysing embedded themes suitable for parents, educators and book clubs. Incredible!
Reawakening the Magic Volume 1 was such an incredible book that truly brings insight and in-depth analysis about fairy tales. It does a wonderful job of discussing the history and origin behind multiple famous fairy tales such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, etc. The author then goes into detail about the different versions and how the newer versions have changed so significantly from how they began. Overall, this book was eye-opening and it provided an entirely new perspective into how I look at fairy tales in general. I am excited to read volume 2 and highly recommend this book to anyone who loves and enjoys fairy tales.
