Acerca de esta escucha

Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers are up against a powerful vigilante group with an eye on vengeance in this thrilling novel in the beloved series by the #1 New York Times bestselling author.

“We’re going to murder people who need to be murdered.”

So begins a press release from a mysterious group known only as “The Five,” shortly after a vicious predator is murdered in San Francisco. The Five is made up of vigilante killers who are very bored…and very rich. They target the worst of society—rapists, murderers, and thieves—and then use their unlimited resources to offset the damage done by those who they’ve killed, donating untraceable Bitcoin to charities and victims via the dark net. The Five soon become popular figures in the media …though their motives may not be entirely pure.

After The Five strike again in the Twin Cities, Virgil Flowers and Lucas Davenport are sent in to investigate. And they soon have their hands full--the killings are smart and carefully choreographed, and with no apparent direct connection to the victims, the killers are virtually untraceable. But if anyone can destroy this group, it will be the dynamic team of Davenport and Flowers.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"[Righteous Prey is] well-paced from the start, and ramps up the tension (and the body count) as the lawmen draw closer to their prey." (Wall Street Journal)

"The book’s strength rests firmly on the rapport between Davenport and Flowers: their pithy dialogue is spiced with the kind of humor that enduring friendships engender. Sandford fans will hope they have a long run as a team. (Publishers Weekly)

There’s a message here…

…about how someone can literally overpower law enforcement by making modifications to guns—timely message for our current political and social situation in America. John Sandford gave a little information about his business (writing books) through the efforts of Virgil Flowers, which was fun, and he sort of re-introduced Virgil and Lucas. I love Richard Ferrone’s narration (long may he “partner” with Lucas) but I did miss the voice of Eric Conger for Virgil. His all-purpose “huhs” always make me smile. I loved it!

Outstanding Listening Pleasure

Realizing my headline may raise a few eyebrows, let me explain why. First off, I have either read or listened to all of the Davenport, Flowers, and Kidd novels. I am a long time fan of the Prey novels and found all the Flowers novels first rate. Okay, so what makes this listen so amazing to me. It is the dialogue between and among the key characters plain and simple. Sandford does an excellent job with "guy talk" and Ferrone delivers a perfect gravel voice narration. The lines are clever and often out loud funny. Couple that with Ferrone's ability to inject humor and sarcasm when needed and you have a clear cut fun listen to the ears. The dialogue is witty and often salty with plenty of "f" bombs for those who worry about such things.

The main plot centers around a group calling themselves "The Five" who decide it is their job to rid the world of those they term as "A...holes". When they kill their prey, a number is placed on them indicating the order of the kill. Then the organizer of the group sends out a press release proclaiming who the victim is, why they were killed, and where the bodies may be found. Lucas Davenport is called in to assist the FBI with the hunt for these killers and he is joined, once again, by his former employee Virgil Flowers. This is the second time Sandford has put the duo together for a complete novel and it is pure genious.
Flowers has always been a favorite of mine, but there has not been a novel exclusively his in awhile. Maybe the sales were not up to par. Whatever the reason, he is very welcome as a partner for Lucas IMO. On top of Flowers, we get a very brief inclusion by Kidd, another Sandford character who has not had his own novel in years. Absolute joy.

Suffice it to say, the story, characters and action are all first rate and the dramatic conclusion is like watching the gunfight at the ok corral all over again. Just excellent. Thank you Mr. Sandford and Ferrone for a great ride. I truly hated to see it end.

Anti Gun

Leave politics out of your stories. I don’t care about your opinions.
This is a good typical Lucas and Vergie book.

Davenport and Flowers

Righteous Prey touched upon many current, serious topics that are killing our society. Lucas and Virgil handle them all with their typical common sense that makes a person think while laughing out loud. Richard Ferrone’s narration, as always, does a spectacular job of bringing the characters to life.

Lucas and Virgil together again

Since I have either read or listened to them all, I feel I almost know these characters as real people. Therefore I found this story most interesting. Connelly gets back to what made them interesting. Being law enforcement and stopping criminals regardless of the price. Great read for me Thanks.

Another winner for Mr. Sandford.

Great plot with lots of action. The characters were intriguing, and the action was believable. Can't wait for the next installment.

Excellent

I really enjoyed this book. The deep bond between Lucas and Virgil was so apparent and touching. The story was believable and current, smart, and humorous, I was sad when it ended

An Unbeatable Team

Sandford and Ferrone are both amazing - I can hardly wait for their next book. This was a well developed plot with enough happening to keep you scrambling to hear more.

Bet book of all.

Loved the characters. Love the fact that Lucas and Virgil were back together. Loved everything about it. It was funny, exciting, and very well developed. I hope he continues this type of book. Sorry poor Lucas got so shot up though. Lucas and Virgil just mesh so well.
